Twisted Threads

I have always loved wearing my now grown sons cast off sport coats with jeans and a t-shirt. I have one that I just love that was my oldest son's first dance jacket. It is a black and white unconstructed jacket. He's probably forgotten all about that jacket but not Momma. I embellished one jacket with vintage buttons, etc....., wore it and got tons of compliments. So I decided to make some for the boutique. It took me forever to find just the right man's vintage jacket, then I spent the summer finding just the right old buttons to use. Here is the finished product. Winding embroidered vines of olive green and leaves in olive and aqua with aqua French knots grace the lapels. I absolutely loved the huge vintage chartreuse button and it's really set off by the aqua. On the other lapel a sweet crocheted aqua flower is set off by other cute vintage buttons. The chest pocket has a vintage crocheted hankie in it and button hole stitching is a cute touch on the front pockets. I think it's adorable and would look stylin' with jeans and boots or cute flats. Now that cooler weather is approaching, it makes it easier to work with the wool so I am on the hunt for more great old jackets and sweet vintage items to reinvent with twisted threads.

HI Lynda, your flowers are just lovely..love your kitchen too. That you for mentioning the Endless Summer Hydrangea. I think I've heard of them, yet don't know if they are available in this area. That is something I really want to look for next year.

Wow Lynn, this is so sharp! What a beautiful unique piece this is. I'll bet you could sell these like hot cakes! I can just imagine this with jeans and a black turtleneck with black boots. Too cute!!!

The details are incredible! One trend we are into are the vintage sweater pins (or we were already into it before we discovered it was a "trend").

Have a blessed day,

First - it must have been a really nice men's suit! Gotta love a 3-button suit. Secondly - that would look adorable with a pair of jeans. Nice transformation!!

Love,
Julie

What a wonderful idea! I bet my Mom would love to do this with one of my brother's old jackets, then again, wearing it just might make her teary-eyed (you know, that empty-nest thing)! =)
