Reflections

The ever so delightful Ms. Sandi over at Holding Patterns ask me what I will be doing New Year's Eve. Over the years we have attended fancy dances and had breakfast at 2 a.m., gone to the beach to celebrate, participated in an all night New Year's Eve tennis marathon, and even been at Times Square in New York city to watch the ball drop with a gazillion other people....that was madness I tell ya'. One New Year's Eve my father was gravely ill and I had no desire to party that year. All our friends had invited us here and there but I turned them all down preferring to stay home that night. About 9 p.m. the doorbell rang and there stood a large group of friends bringing with them games, music and a picnic, all to cheer me up. I think that is my most special one. This year I plan to just get cozy in my favorite chair by the fire, all dressed up in my new, very formal black and white shopping pajamas and comfy black slippers Kat gave me, have a glass of Electric Reindeer, toast my husband and watch the family home movies we made all year. Yep...sounds like a plan to me and a good one at that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the beautiful blogging friends I have met this year and I look forward to meeting many more in 2008. For one is silver and the other is gold.

I LOVE YOUR SHOPPING PAJAMAS!!! I haven't even read anyone else's comments, had to get that out of my systme! I love the shoes too, but then I'm a shoe fiend kind a girl...back in the day I had a closet full of heals, then when I went to work I had loads of boots...not your mama wears army boots, but mama drives with blue lights boots, lol...now it's sandals and houseshoes...but I do love those Pajamas!!! Happy New Year, I know it's going to be a good one...I just have that feeling. Thanks for sharing those wonderful adventures with us...and the personal worries, too...what we be without our friends? Here's a toast...I'm raising my glass...to happier times and a very fine lass...

Lynn,

That story reminds me of one of my favorite children's Christmas books, Bialosky's Christmas. He prepares a wonderful party, but forgets to invite his friends. They show up anyway because they are worried about him. I just love the sentiment and I am glad your friends were there for you.

That sounds like the perfect New Year! I always celebrate when they drop the peach in Atlanta... that is just one hour sooner that I can get to bed.=D

I hope that isn't a sign that I'm getting older.
