LOL...Hope none of you are reading this early Saturday morning because the shock of seeing me in the photo with your still sleepy eyes just might send you flying back to bed and under the covers. This beautiful old vintage mirror, Chippendale style, got a make over from me. I loved the cut out work at the top. The mirror is ghosting and losing it's silvering but I like it that way, besides it's in the guest room and hardly ever used. The old mirror had a reddish or mahogany finish on it. It was the dickens to paint white but eventually I got it covered. That little top center round circle I used to paint a pink rose on and then heavily antiqued it. Over the bed is a white eyelet swag that cascades down to the floor. To hold the swags back on either side of the bed I use these old vintage metal tiebacks that have pink roses in the center. Aren't they the sweetest? I have a busy run around weekend this weekend so I may not get around to all your blogs as soon as I would like but I will be there. You have a great weekend too and don't forget to click on over to Beverly's place to get a list of all the participants for PinkSaturday. Thank you Beverly.
What a beautiful room! The mirror is gorgesous-nice painting by the way, and the white eyelet swag and rose tie backs are just to die for! Lovely, lovely post, Kathy - Mimi's Garden
Lynn, I LOVE the tiebacks, you gave me an idea. The mirror turned out lovely and speaking of lovely so are you! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Happy Pink Saturday. Karen
Lynn, your inspiration was the curtain tiebacks. I recently came across a bunch of vintage upholstery pins and was using them for my bulletin board. They actually match my guest room perfectly. So, I am going to steal your idea and use them for tieback instead. Thanks for the idea. Karen
Hi Lynn, the mirror turned out beautiful, antique painted roses, very talented. Your room what I could see looks great, crisp and pretty. Have a great weekend and relax when you can. Hugs, Bonnie
What a beautiful mirror! And you've done an excellent job in painting it - especially your painted rose in the little medallion! Hope your Pink Saturday was so PINK! Be a sweetie, Shelia :)
Ooooh, Lynn chick, it's lovely! I'd love to put it over the mantle I'm getting soon.....right after hubs stops buying HIS toys! You truly did an outstanding job on the bedroom, honey! Read about more antics in the C household tomorrow bright and early! Hah Smoochies, Connie
Lynn, OMG!!! What an incredibly lovely room this is!!!...You did a marvelous job on your mirror...it is just charming! & those tie-backs?...so vintage & lovely!!!....You have a beautiful blog!! Will be back again soon to visit!...heidi XO
Lynn Oh how pretty that turned out. I know what you mean about covering up color, I'm working on the guest room armoire, and it's a bear. Ugh. You did a wonderful job, happy weekend, enjoye it. Hugs, Rose
Hi, We have a pink tub and toilet in an older house that we bought. Since the tub was in great shape, the rest of the room was co-ordinated with it ie; tiles around the tub, pink diamond tiles on the floor. We love it, but since it is the guest bath, we don't use it much.
The prettiest pink accents, Lynn! Your mirror is just gorgeous! Happy Days ((HUGS)) Oh, stop by again, if you can--I'm having some gift giveaway fun at my place this week :o)
Lynn, Didn't you ever hear that if you make the guest room too wonderful {like yours} they'll never leave?!! Smile. Sweet touches in this room. I love all the little details, different textures and visual interest. Something about eyelet draperies that has always appealed to me. They are a happy little fabric...by adding your sweet tie-backs, these panels giggle. Love it!
Hi Lynn, the mirror and tiebacks are lovely! How many coats of paint did it take to cover the original color? I'm getting ready to paint a small table to mosaic and can't decide whether to strip it before painting or just use a good primer.
Would love to see the entire room, the mirror's reflection just didn't show enough!
I think your vintage mirror is wonderful painted white--and the rose you added was just the perfect touch. I could stay in that guest room any old time--I love old mirrors that are "ghostly" because I feel I can identify!
