Home Sweet Home

To be honest......I have been feeling a little blue. Since we are going to be away for Christmas and the fact that no one (except the mailman) ventures down our lane, there was no reason to go all out for Christmas with decorating this year. I love Christmas and usually go full tilt in decorating but this time I just put up a small tree in the kitchen, a wreath on the door and my Santa in the garden chair and that was it. Beachy decided this year she was going to have a Home Sweet Home Christmas tour and I thought what fun.....but decided...nope...can't do that either as I have no photos to show of my "home sweet home" Christmas finery. But a funny thing happened on the way to the mailbox today. Inside my big old country mailbox was stuffed the biggest ol' package with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" stamped all over it. Heidi of Foxgloves, Fabric and Folly sponsored a Very Vintage Christmas swap. And Cherry of Cherries Jubilee was my swap partner. Cherry is one talented lady and has the best "eye candy" blog, just loaded with all the fun things she does and makes. My package was just chock full of blitz and bling and sparkle and feathers and nostalgia and and ribbons and bows. I told Cherry my home was decorated in a kinda' French Chic theme in black and white and red all over. :) So....putting Beachy's "home sweet home" party together with my goodies from Cherry here we go. And I am not so blue anymore. :)

Guiding Wise Men through the dawn. Telling all that Christ is born, On this day of days. Star, Star, Christmas Star,

Baubles and Birds brighten up the dreary winter landscape.

A gorgeous fleur-de-lis to add to my collection. How did she know???

Placed in front of my pink and white poinsettia this gorgeous antiqued trinket box Cherry created is a perfect compliment.

A touch of French Chic gold nestled in beautiful green magnolia says Welcome .

A glittery bird topped Christmas tussie-mussie. How divine!

Gorgeous glittered signs that convey my wish for you and yours....

Beachy of The Whispering Poppies has a list of all the participants in her Home Sweet Home tour. Click here for the list and thank you Cherry for a most memorable and thoughtful swap package. If you want a peek at what I sent Cherry click here.

"I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus underneath the mistletoe last night." Look what I found while out treasure hunting Wednesday. It's a gold gilt covered bell with red flocked ribbon and plastic holly and mistletoe. I love the red berries on the holly and the mistletoe leaves have gold flecks on them. I read somewhere recently that the future of a traditional kiss under the mistletoe is in doubt, as the plant is in danger of dying out because of modern farming methods. I just listed this piece of nostalgia in the boutique so you'll never be without your mistletoe and a possible covert kiss while standing under it :)

Now I know when Bobby G. gets home today, he is going to take one look around and say, with a grin on his face, "I knew you would end up decorating.

What a wonderful package! I've just remembered that I bought one of those Peace ornaments after Christmas last year. Now, where did I put it. LOL

Lynn,
Well, that was a treat to go to the mailbox and see a package, and then discover it filled with these beautiful things. I especially love the trinket box. Each item is lovely, and that creation with the sheet music in the shape of the house with the Vintage artwork is so beautiful. This box of treasures would inspire anyone to decorate. Karen

Lynn, I'm glad you're no longer feeling blue! What a GORGEOUS swap you received! Gotta love those "brown paper packages tied up in string!" Thank you so much for joining in my party! I hope you have a lovely day!

Fabulous gifts, Lynn. Everything is just so pretty!

I love the bell. Reminds me of one my mother had.

I had not heard that about Mistletoe. I remember gathering Mistletoe, from trees, when I was 9 or 10 years old, in Texas. I've never seen it in our part of the world, though. I hate to hear it is one more endangered plant.

How lovely! I'm happy you were able to do some decorating. We scaled back a bit this year as well but definitely still had to get some in!

Feeling blue is not good anytime of year. Thankfully Beachy has inspired us to find a little bit of the spirt to share with each other because sometimes all it takes is that little splash of glitter to get you started.
