The Perfect Snow

Last Saturday evening we had our first snowfall. I stepped outside on the deck to look up at the sky through the outside lights, watching the lazily falling snow. It was the kind of snow that sticks quickly.....you know.....the kind that makes perfect snowballs and snowmen. The kind of snow that you dream of for Christmas, that doesn't stick to the roads and just enough falls that quickly makes your world pure and beautiful. The snow sparkled like a thousand points of light from the early morning sunshine as we took a walk. By late that evening it had all melted. It's what I call The Perfect Snow.

I decided it was a good idea to get rid of the remnants of Fall and Thanksgiving (ya' think???) to make room for my very favorite Santa. I bought him years ago at an after Christmas sale. He is papier mache and is almost two feet tall. And every year he graces my home in a different fashion...sometimes on the wall in the kitchen, sometimes tucked in a pottery vase with fresh greens and sometimes in an antique frame. This year he will greet our visitors as they come up the front walk. I will add some greenery on the chair and all around him for a more festive look.

Last week I announced a give-away on my Friday Flea Market post. Thank you to all who entered. In a most scientific approach to picking a winner, I copied and printed the comments section on the post of all who entered. Cutting them all up and tossing them willy-nilly on the floor, my trusty office partner rooted around with his big wet nose, picking a WINNER. Congratulations to Dana and Daisy of the most delightful blog called "A Cat In My Lap". Dana was one of those bloggers who I "clicked" with immediately upon meeting . She is a beautiful lady, both inside and out. Right now on her blog she is posting lots of fun insightful holiday posts and I hope you'll visit her. Dana commented that although she has a fabulous little vacation cabin in the woods, none of her holly trees are big enough to pick from. Dana, I will try to find the biggest and bestest holly stems just for you.

I hope, if you have time, you'll venture over to my boutique and see all the pretty gift toppers that are being created in theVintageNest studio. They are so unique and fun and whimsical and will make someone's present unforgettable. :)

Alrighty then, ......with my shears in hand and earmuffs on my ears out I go. See you all on Pink Saturday.

The PERFECT snowfall indeed ! I'm happy you had it...I used to hate when the snow got all black and yuckky.

Oh snow! I am so jealous as we NEVER have snow here. (lots and lots of rain, but no snow) Your dusting is quite pretty though. I love the Santa head. He makes a lovely Christmas greeting. Have a great Tuesday!

Congratulations, Dana!

We have only had hit and miss snow, here. Our kids had enough for a snowman the Sunday after Thanksgiving. They are only 30 min. south of us. We got a slight dusting. We really do want snow..we love it...especially since retirement. Meaning...we don't have to get out and drive in it!

I love the photo of your "office partner"!

Hey Lynn, we had that same kind of snow here in Cincinnati Saturday. Woke to it at 6:30 am and at 9 am 7 year old Kerri was out sledriding and pummeling her 14 year old brother with snowballs! Loved to see it and glad it went away by Monday! Hope we have some for Christmas Day and then it can go away again!
Have a wonderful day!

Don't you just LOVE snow?! We should be getting that same kind of "perfect" snow out our way by Saturday. I hope that it holds off until all our poinsettias are shipped and we have no more drivers on the road in big trucks :)
