Blowing In The Wind

I think I have mentioned before that we have had one dreary winter....not any snow to speak of yet but cold and cloudy days. This was the scene across the lake early the other morning. I quickly hopped out of bed and ran for my camera because the clouds only stay that way for a minute. Sure enough that old saying that goes: "Pink sky in the Morning, Sailors take warning. Pink sky at night, Sailor's delight" applied here. See the pink sky low on the horizon? Soon it started raining with lots of wind and rained the rest of the day.

We have been busy as bees in the Vintage Nest studio with all the dreary cloudy days outside. Aren't these pinwheels the cutest? Don't they just brighten your day? When you hold a pinwheel and let it blow in the wind you can't help but smile and feel like a kid again. Every summer I put pinwheels in my garden urn on the front porch to add a little whimsy and amusement. These happy pinwheels are my latest gift toppers. They are delightful and such a fun way to brighten up a gift for someone special. And of course, to add a touch of vintage, the centers are large cute old buttons.

I received an award the other day. The first for 2009 and what a "sweet" reward it is. It's called the Lemonade Reward.......just like that saying that says "When life hands you a bunch of lemons, make lemonade". It's a reward for Attitude and Gratitude and I pass it to all my sweet readers. Mrs. Jones6 sent this my way. Mrs. Jones is the BEST and she makes pretty marmalade too. :) Oh Yeah, I forgot, she is having a wonderful give-away. Scoot on over there and sign up. You will love it.

What's that busted and broken glass door all about you say? Stay tuned for the next segment of as the World Turns at The Vintage Nest to see what happens when Lynn goes into a cleaning frenzy in her studio. :) Y'all be good now! Until next time.

Those pinwheels are adorable. Don't they bring back the childhood memories!!

I know about a long winter. We have so much snow. It has also been dark and gloomy here. We had a blizzard late night and more snow today. I can't wait to head south for awhile.

I am seriously wondering how you get these terrific ideas! I too love pinwheels and by them by the handful each year and stick them all around the garden. Have made a couple in the past but never worked like the real deal. The handle is just TOO cute on these, you rock!

Wow, those are some very impressive clouds! I miss rainstorms, nothing better than that smell and some good old thunder and lightening to cheer me right up. Around here, rain either evaporates on the way to the ground, lasts JUST long enough to make a mud pie on the dusty windshield, or dumps massive amounts in less than 5 minutes to make a flash flood!

OK, now about those eggs? Did she put any peanut butter in the mix? Or cornmeal? Maybe they would be less likely to melt. Unless of course you are talking rain like you better get the arc because the force alone will break them up then.

Broken mirror huh? At least it isn't just me, ha!

Hi Lynn, Brrrrrrr! I would love to see clouds or sun or any part of the actual sky other than gray. Such a pretty sunrise, but, yes, pink sky in the morning means sailor's warning. uh oh.

Love the pinwheels. We used to put pinwheels on the handlebars of our bikes so that they would spin when we rode them to see how fast we could get them to spin. I guess I was easily entertained as a child. :)

Happy Day!

Oh, those pinwheels brought back such fun memories the minute I saw them. They could entertain me for the longest time.....of for simple days like those!

The clouds are perfect. We say for the bad weather: "When the moon is lying down, the ship master is standing" (he has to handle the ship because of the stormy sea). I hope things are better now.

Love those pin wheels, Lynn. So very cute. Can't wait to hear about your cleaning adventure... I need some help over here because everything's taking over my studio. The clouds are beautiful, love the sailor's saying... very romantic. I'm going to have to remember it for future reference. It was 81 degrees here today, we will be so sad once it starts raining again.
