Sleeping Beauties

Yeh! So! So What Lynn! You have posted a photo of an open window. What's with that? "What's with that you ask?" Well if you look down at the post below, about the snow storm we had, and then 6 days later it's all gone and the temperatures were in the 80's and I had all my windows opened enjoying the warm fresh gentle breezes, it was just amazing. It really seemed surreal. We enjoyed the weekend so much, Bobby G. fishing and me puttering in the gardens and we even had dinner on the deck. We planted some spinach and mesclun and cleaned up fallen tree branches and limbs. Yeppers, Spring is coming, by the calendar, just 10 days away, and then Easter.

Spring into spring with these darling vintage pillowcase dresses. I have been busy as a bee working in my studio on "new" old dresses for the little ones. Once slept upon, now these gorgeous old pieces are sweet dresses. I search far and wide for old pillowcases that are in perfect or near perfect condition and feature beautiful hand embroidery and crochet laces. Each one I find I think "that is my favorite". My most recent find is the adorable "Grandma" pillowcase. I have made these sweet dresses as flower girl dresses, Christening dresses, birthday dresses and for special photos. The fun thing about these cuties is that they are sometimes called "grow with me" dresses, as once they become too short, they can be worn over pantaloons or jeans as a topper. Mine have adjustable tie ribbons at the shoulders and always feature a special crochet flower or vintage button and bow at the neckline. As each one is a one-of-a-kind they are sure to become heirloom pieces. Going green a pretty way. :)

See you for Pink Saturday!

Oh Lynn, these are absolutely gorgeous! I am still trying to get the size of my great-niece for you. We too are enjoying the nice spring weather here in NC. But today is a little cooler than the last few days. So unfortunately old man winter has not left completely. :-( Yet Spring is not too far behind! YEAH....
Enjoy while it lasts and know it is surely a coming. Take care and blessings as always. Oh yeah, the newsletter was great the other day! TaTa.

Oh, I understand the open window! I had mine open the other day too, and it was soooo wonderful to have some fresh air in the house! I'm so ready for spring!

I adore those little pillow case dresses! I think I'm going to HAVE to buy one for my niece who is expecting a baby in Sept. That is, IF she is having a girl, we don't know yet! (Now I really hope it IS a girl so I can get one of those sweet little dresses!)

Have a lovely day!

Those little dresses are just darling. Guess I could do the same with an old tablecloth and make a "me" sized dress. Somehow I don't think it would be as cute, though!

Lynn! I've been thinking about you and there you are in my comments section! So good to hear from you.

Brrrr...we are hoping to get to 22* today. You better believe we are ready for spring. I loved looking at your beautiful snow pictures.

Those little dresses are adorable but I don't think my little grandsons would appreciate them. You are so creative.

Thanks so much for stopping by 47th Street today!

We have enjoyed our open windows this week as well. The fresh breezes of spring are in the air and I just can't get enough of them! The pillowcase dresses are the cutest things I have ever seen. I LOVE them! It's a shame my girls have outgrown cute and want to be "grown". You know, 10 and 11 is so old these days. :)
Have a lovely week and enjoy these gorgeous, early spring days.

The dresses are adorable, ALMOST makes me wish for a little girl again. Princess has a birthday Friday to add to my fun, time sure does fly.

Oh Lynn,
The pillowcase dresses are so cute. I like the one under the ribbon picture with the pink ribbons and pink rosette on the neckline. Those are so fun, I bet all the little girls just love them. If I come across any nice pillow case sets I'll let you know.
Springs only a few days away, woohaa

Hi Lynn.
Yeah, it was the same here. We got to have our windows open all day Saturday. Today, it only got up to about 30 degrees! I'm so over winter. I've already bought all my veggie and herb seeds, cleaned out my flower bed, where I intended to plant my herbs, only to find out that there were flowers coming up under all the leaf litter! I'm going to transplant the flowers to another part of the yard and still use that flower bed for my herbs. My veggies will be planted in my grandfather's garden again this year.
Love the little dress. Absolutely precious!
Take care
Lisa

How delightful to have the chirping of birds on you blog with the open window post. Out bedroom window has been open and I adore hearing the morning songs of God's creatures.

Gorgeous little dresses, oh if only they woud fit me....maybe vintage sheets are the go...no seriously I would have to cut them though...yes as my husband would say ' let's not and say we did' which means yes it is a great idea but way too much effort!
How wonderful it must be to have such extremes of temperature snow to Spring, how amazing!! We have hot or a little less hot or on days all the stock is out the front of Lilly Cottage on display, we have rain!!!
Have a lovely weekend, Kiss Noises Linda Lilly Cottage

Oh, yes, open windows are a joy forever! The storm, the piles of snow, the hunkering down and snuggling in and then... blue skies swift breezes.

These pillowcase dresses are darling -- I need to dig into my stash and see what I can send to you!!! They are too too dear to hide away among the linens.
