Yes Lynn, There is an Easter Bunny

It was a cold and blustery day but I knew, for the sake of my sanity and figure, I needed to get out for a bit of sunshine and exercise. As I walked, I thought it's a terrible thing to wish your time away but I wished Spring would hurry and come. Shuffling through the fallen leaves of last fall, I look up at the clear blue sky at the silhouette of the still, bare branched trees, when I notice a touch of pink. A long forgotten and abandoned bird's nest I think. As I get closer I realize, "No, not Mrs. Robin's last year's real estate" but a beautiful tussie mussie. I gently take it down from it's spot on the old dogwood tree and see how beautifully it's made. Hanging by a pretty satin ribbon of old pink touched with gold and knotted with a bird's tail. Made from the shabbiest of blue stripe paper and edged at the top with gorgeous 1930's netting and satin hemmed lampshade ruffles. I see more of this trim at the bottom of this fabulous piece along with vintage old worn pink crepe paper streamers. Ivory French gimp chinese braid lace trim runs down the center front topped with a rosette created from more of that gorgeous lampshade trim. And right smack in the middle is a portrait of a Victorian Easter Bunny wearing his best top hat and shimmering with Fairy Dust. Measuring 9" long, not counting it's ribbon handle, I am thinking how charming this would be to give to a special friend, sister or Mom filled with her favorite chocolate eggs or gourmet jelly beans. Yes ......., I just know the Easter Bunny has been here and left this gorgeous tussie mussie for me to find. He's here which means Spring must be just around the corner.

I have so much fun looking for vintage textiles, saving them, wondering what to do with them and then all of sudden the spirit hits me and I know exactly how to proceed. Sometimes I have things for months before I ever use them. Bobby G. thought I had lost my mind when I bought an old lampshade that was totally shredded except for the netting. I knew that gorgeous trim would find a new home eventually. You can find this tussie mussie here in the boutique. How perfectly delicious this would be to give to a "special someone" not only at Easter but anytime. Fill with some special Easter chocolate or gourmet jelly beans. How special! I only have a tiny amount of that trim so when it's gone....it's gone!
