Mad Tea Party

~ Tonight we're going to party like it's 1865 ~
This is the story book tale of a very fanciful tea party, where the guest could be the sweet bird that sings to me every morning or the caterpillar that lives under the cucumber leaves. Every day you live is a special occasion and a reason to celebrate. So this day, a very special Vanessa day, we are celebrating with a tea party....a MAD tea party if you will. My guest are a just a wee bit colorful and eccentric but always fun. There's Ben, our resident pussycat guard dog, squirrel chaser, office assistant and all round sweet lovable boy.......but he does love to wear his crown......strange for a dog....don't you think? Then there is Patriotic Man, a fitting guest since our nation's independence day is soon to be celebrated. He's a wonderful ol' guy, although a bit dotty but that's okay. The birds think he is the best, so much so, there is always one perched on his head. The stone rabbit will definitely not let this party last forever and a day. He always wears his clock and will let us know when the bewitching hour of 8 p.m. arrives so we can all rush in to watch "Dancing Under the Stars". So come along, follow me........ down the cobblestone path, to the old wood steps that lead to our tea party set under the pink lanterns in the old dogwood tree. We must hurry before the caterpillar eats all the red cake with white icing. He's quite partial to white icing you see. We shall drink endless amounts of invisible sweet tea (it's a Southern thang), sweetened with blue sugar, and tell stories of the day we painted the Queen's roses red.

P.S. Kudos to Bobby G. (my very own Mad Hatter) who spent so much time (in the heat) taking and retaking photos of me and my menagerie of friends for the party. Kisses :)

Thank you Vanessa of A Fanciful Twist blog for allowing me to be a part of your imagination and this incredibly fun and magical day. For a list of all the participants in the Mad Party just click here and look on her sidebar. It will make you smile, it will make you laugh and it will make your day.

What a delightful slide show with so many delightful vignettes. I loved all of it - the giant teapot and the giant tea cup; The bunny with the big clock; the catepillar on the cake; the cards, the red paint can! Everything was just so much fun. Thanks for putting a smile on my face with these pictures. laurie

Dear Lady Lynn,
I brought guests to your Mad Tea Party. Let me see, there's Miss Violet Teacake, H. Harriet Hatrack, and what would a tea party be, without English Royalty. So, I brought Duchess Delphinium Hammersley. I hope Stone Rabbit was suitably impressed. However, I must apologize for the Duchess, she does love cake and rather indulged herself too much.
Thank you for a lovely time,
Theresa @ Cottage Violets

Lynn,
You crack me up, I love that teapot, but who is that adorable lady wearing the pink crown? You are so cute! I'm glad that you are painting the roses red, and your post made me smile the very very most of all the tea parties I attended.

Today was my daughter's High School graduation party. So, just like White Rabbit, I am late for this very important date to visit everyone's tea! I had a wonderful time visiting your blog.

Happy Mad Tea Party, Karen

We have been partying and preparing all week at Lilly Cottage and I think we will take as long tidying up, but that is the sign of a truly great day is it not!

Dear Lynn! What a delightful tea party--now I will be singing "We're Painting the Roses Red" for days!! I soooo enjoyed your photo story--you tell that Bobby G that he did a great job taking your cute, cute pictures (loved the heart fan and crown!). The Stone Rabbit was sooooo happy to see one of his cousins having a good time at the party. He told me he thought that cousin was on his dad's side of the family who immigrated from Switzerland---the family had something to do with a clock company! He still seems to be very timely!!!

It was a grand party!!! L, Dana
