Beauty Parlors ~ Pink Saturday

Remember when hair salons used to be called beauty parlors or shops and hair dressers weren't called hair dressers but beauticians? My Mom was a "beautician". I used to love to go to the shop and once I reached high school age I got to work the shop occasionally as the receptionist. Boy....did I think I was something else! I was thinking about these things the other day as I was having my nails done. Long time ago I did a post on OPI nail polishes. I love their colors and their names....my favorite being London Bridge Is Falling Brown. Last week I got my last "Barely There Pink" summer polish refreshed and will change for Fall to the OPI brownish/red at my next appointment. I hear that color has been discontinued (boohoo) so I may have to do a search on eBay for it. Meet Thomas, my "nail stylist". He's the best in the business and I do love the big hot pink pouf he uses to swoosh away the nail dust. Hope you all have a fabulous Pink Saturday and a big thanks to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting this fun day.

Pretty colors. My toes still bear the paint from 8/8/09 pedicure granddaughter made me get in Seattle, sugar. Even had a recent "toe surgery" and the polish is still on there. Hah.

Stop by tomorrow for a giveaway, sweetpea!

Great 'outside of the box' post!! I have pedi's but do my own fingernails. And I use whatever color strikes my mood. Today is bright red. Not my mood today, but the day I put it on! lol!!

Have a happy weekend, Lynn!!

What a fun pink post! I never get my fingernails done, because of my mosaic work. But I get a pedicure once a month...spring summer winter and fall!

Happy Pink Saturday, Lynn.

I love this post. It is such a sweet memory. My mother still goes to the "beauty shop" once a week. In fact, I will be taking her for her Saturday appointment in less that two hours.

Are you going to tell us about your trip? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good Pink Morning, Lynn! I hope your recent RR was a great one. Did you see me waiving at you from my outdoor sale as you flew over? :)

I also love OPI polish. My friend Bonnie introduced me to that line. . . she was once a "beautician", so she gets the perk of being able to shop at beauty supply spots! I thought the OPI I had used on my piggies the summer my son was married was the same as your pink, but I just checked and it's called "Dancing in the Isles"! Yes, their names are great!

I hope you're having a great Pink Sat. and an even better weekend! L, dana

Love OPI colors - love the names. I usually pick the color because of the name - my favorite now is "Did someone say party?" Think it is discontinued.....

Happy Pink Saturday!

That's a neat walk down memory lane... beauty parlors. I want to go into one and come out beautiful (usually I come out with wet hair and on the run, plus no blow dry equals less cost). Happy PS!

Happy Pink Saturday, Lynn! I'm on my way to the salon after I write you this comment! I once was a hair dresser myself and I so loved the aesthetics of the job! Your nails look lovely, BTW! I love the shade! Have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi

I need to come see you as y nails are terrible. Polish tends to dry them, so I seldom use it. You have a big, nice selection. I know all about the older hair places.

OOoooh, lovely!!! Yes, "parlour" is a great word, and I guess now out of favor.

I'm due for a pedicure!! Thanks for the reminder.

Happy Pink Saturday.

The air is cooler, the days are shorter, winter is on its way. From now until April of next year I will have to rely on Pink Saturday for my pink fix!

Thanks for participating this week and for helping my day be just a little bit more pink and sweet!

Ohmygosh - beauty salons - my mom went to those! Haven't heard those words in ages! Thanks!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with the love of family and good friends.

I love having manicures (doens't happen often these days as my nails are usually covered in acrylic paint of a different kind, lol). Thomas is obviously a kindred soul and should be named Friend of Pink Saturday for having the pink pouffy brush.

I love the name of that varnish - I see OPI on QVC UK, and they never mentioned that one! And I'm a Brit, waaaah! You are so right - I'd buy it just for the name, never mind the colour. Although that sounds lovely too.

I hope we are going to see your new Fall nails soon. Happy Pink Saturday, sweetie!

Lucky you that you can paint your nails, I am allergic to nail polish! :O(
This colour on your nails is so very stylish!

Lynn, the cake can indeed be made 1 or 2 days before serving. Just remember it takes up a lot of spce in the fridge. I wasn't sure you head back over to One Perfect Bite and wanted to make sure you got my response, so I'm leaving it here as well. Blessings...Mary

Ohhh two of my Aunties owned "beauty salons" when I was a young girl. Oh man, the perms back then stunk and the conversation would go : "Francie, sit STILL" Me: "Ouch it hurts ! " Auntie: "It hurts to be beautiful" Me: "Then I DON'T WANT to be beautiful !"
Oh man if only they could make me beautiful now LOL.
