The Winner's Circle

Around here it was all about racing this past week. My oldest son ran in the Care 4 Breast Cancer Run for awareness and the task force for the uninsured and under insured in his hometown. Out of 1600 runners he came in third and raised quite a chunk of money. This is a photo of him back in his school days running a race. I know he will be so embarrassed that I posted this but I don't care.....I am so proud of him!!!!

Back in August we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and I gave Bobby G. a racing school gift certificate. What an idiot I thought to myself after it was all said and done. What have I done? He needs that like he needs a hole in the head. Ack! But after seeing the big grin on his face yesterday it was worth it. He loved it and I loved the sounds of the race cars as they revved their engines and sped off around the course. It was very exciting driving your car through the tunnel that the real Nascar drivers would have used on a race day.......getting suited up and being interviewed just like the real deal. The weather was just perfect and it was a fun afternoon. Problem is next year I will have to come up with something that is even more thrilling. :)

And speaking of the winner's circle I have been blessed again this week with not one but two awards. Marie over at Personalized Sketches and Sentiments gave me this blog award, "you're the sweetest". It's a cupcake! How sweet is that? And I have to tell you if you are looking for a very special Christmas gift you must go see Marie's blog. She does the most incredible sketches you have ever seen all done in a person's name. You have to go look!

And Sue, over at CollectIn Texas Gal presented me with the Honest Scrap Award. Sue is an avid vintage collector and her blog is really fun to read so I hope you will visit her and tell her I sent you. :) Thank you Sue.

Have a great week y'all and may your racing heart not be scared to death this Halloween week.

I loved seeing your grand running. My April used to run cross country and those were wonderful days. The reason for his run was great.
The race looks fun all I ever went to is dirt track.

Lynn, you should be proud of your son. 3rd place is amazing in a huge crowd of runners like that! You should also be proud of yourself-what a fabulous gift you gave your husband! I bet he thought he had gone to heaven. Please don't tell my husband about your gift. My gifts to him are always soooo blah. Congratultions on well deserved awards! laurie

How terrific of your son to run in that race. You are justifiably proud! I admit I would be nervous if my husband was racing a car, but you know every guy would just love to do it! It must have been fun to see your husband so happy with his gift!

Have a great day!

Lynn, how fun(but a little nerve wracking?) for Bobby G to have gotten to race around at high speeds!!! And you should definitely be proud of your son for helping to raise money for 2 good causes.
Congrats on your newest awards!

Wow! Your son did amazing! And extra special that he ran for the Care $ Breast Cancer Run! What a great school photo~ you can see his determination!

A belated happy 40th Anniversary! I am so sure that your hubby loved every minute of it! I had to laugh at what you said "What an idiot.... What have I done? He needs that like he needs a hole in the head!"

What is it with boys! They love all that fast and furious stuff, and danger-living-on-the-edge stuff, and rough and tumble sports! I dont know if I could have watched! Hmmm...that will be tough to find something to top that for next year! haha

Blessings & Aloha!
Congratulations on your Honest Scrap award :o) And thank you dear friend for such a lovely shout out! You truly are the Sweetest...The Icing on the Cake!

Oh, Lynn what a wonderful dream you gave your husband. You're so cute, calling yourself silly for giving him a gift like that. It certainly speaks volumes to how spontaneous you are. Your husband and your son are quite the hunks. What a keepsake you gave your husband, he must adore you. Happy belated anniversary.

You should be so proud of your son! Give him a hug for me, he did a really good thing! And third place sure isn't shabby either!
Congratulations on your 40th anniversary. That was a brilliant idea for a gift, boys will be boys no matter what their age, lol.
