Happy Holidays ~ Pink Saturday

Sorry I missed a couple of Saturdays. I missed you all but I am back today with just a simple wish for you. Happy Holidays from The Vintage Nest. This was the Christmas card that went out from the shop. The card leads into what Beverly has requested us to do this week; tell of a special tradition you do each year. This is one simple thing I do every year because I cannot bear to throw out all the beautiful holiday cards we receive. After the trees come down and all the decorations have been stored away, after the last cookie has been eaten and I have made a list of all the fresh things I want to do to the house for the New Year..... I sit down with scissors and hole punch and pretty ribbons in hand and proceed to make all my gift tags for the following year from the cards. That way I get to enjoy them twice and so does someone else. I wish for you a peaceful, pink and happy Christmas week.

I also want to wish our sponsor, Beverly, of "How Sweet the Sound", a very Merry Christmas. Thank you Beverly for all your hard work. For a ton of Pink Saturdays bloggers just go here. And I do hope you will leave a comment here or on the post below this. I am having one little give-away for the end of the year. Since Beverly said we can use poetic license with our "pinks" I just wanted to show you this sweet old delicate "purple" West Germany crackly glass ornament. (Purple is the new red....don't cha know?) :) I would love to send it to you as one last little give-away for 2009.

P. S. We got a foot of snow last night and it's going to continue to snow all day today.....woohoo!...a white Christmas for sure!

Greetings on this snowy evening, Ms Lynn...goodness the time of Christmas morn is slowing approaching...I hear the drums, the trumpets...at a distance...but drawing nearer...

And with those delightful sounds of merriment, how could I not be prepared to fill the air with my voice...wishing you a wonderful Pink Saturday and the most blessed of Christmases!

Saving Christmas cards for tags is such a wonderful idea. I've saved cards for years and years and enjoy getting them out each year! It seems fewer folks are sending cards these days with the ease of E-cards and expense of stamps, but I still look forward to checking the mail box this time of year! The 'NewRed' ornament is beautiful...so delicate and unusual. Great to have you back for Pink Saturday....just in time to Wish You A Merry Christmas....Sue

That's a wonderful tradition, Lynn! And your ornament is gorgeous. I think I had best exempt myself since I won your last giveaway, and that wouldn't be fair to everyone else. But I do think it's a very shiny object, indeed! Some Pinky is going to be very, very happy!

Speaking of which...

Happy Pink Saturday to you!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Lynn! I love the idea of using your old cards for gift tags! I was just thinking the other day at how pretty some of mine were and wondered what to do with them.
The purple ornament is gorgeous as well!

Audley and I had quite a chuckle over "mr White". You must have been so surprised! I guess that answers your question about whether or not to get a rooster. The ameracuna roosters are beautiful and you will enjoy him as he grows into his colors.

Have a fabulous weekend,
Jennifer

Happy Pink Saturday sweetie. I so love the way you recycle the Christmas cards. I am going to have to remember to try that. How beautiful they look.

Now that ornament is just delightful. I collect teapots and tea cups, so I would so love to have this ornament. Please add my name to the list.
I love how the purple is the new pink. Are you stretcchhhinnggg it just a little?

Please pop over and let me share my pink post with you. As always I so love the company.

What a clever idea - and not only tidy again, but all prepped for the next year! Plus the ultimate in recycling, so a win-win situation all round. I've always hated throwing old cards away, and usually give them to our local charity shop which recyles, but might just do the same this year with my favourites!

My post this week is my mother's Lethal Sherry Trifle recipe (it has an awful lot of sherry in it) which we have had every single year since I was 15 (I'm 57 now!).

Have a very Happy Pink Saturday!

Hi Lynn, Merry Christmas!! I am not participating in Pink Saturday this week, but I wanted to stop by and check out all the pinks.

I might have to try that with my Christmas cards...it is such a waste to throw them away.

Lynn-I just finished looking through last year's cards as I was writing new ones! It's hard to throw them away and your idea is great! Love that ornament--purple is made from red :) Merry Christmas! You are playing my favorite songs!

Happy Pink Saturday, dear Lynn. I am loving your music. We got a bit of snow yesterday, but we mostly have ice. It sounded like you were going to get a lot of snow, but I haven't checked the news this morning.

I love your idea of making tags with your cards. I always do something with the cards we receive, too. Sometimes they end up on a scrapbook page or piece of art.

Thank you for your sweet giveaway opportunity.

Your cards are very pretty. I have kept all my cards for the last 50 years intact. They include Mothers day, Valentines, Easter, Birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, you probably think me crazy, but I can't throw them out, I have them stored away. Hope your Christmas holidays are cheery.

Hi Lynn...we only got about 8 inches..and at 5 am it was light and fluffy enough to just push out of the way..we only did the front so hubby and son could leave for work...so i waited till about 9 to do the back so i wouldnt wake neighbors on a Sunday morn....well by then the underlayer started to melt and got slushy and heavy...yech..took me over an hour just to shovel my patio and around the firepit..i wasnt a happy camper...i left the driveway and 3 of the cars for my husband and sons....by the time they went out to do it...everything started to melt so they used the blower..so it wasnt so bad...driving today was very slick though. Hope you kept warm!
