White Wednesday Pillowcase Dresses
Looking back over my recent posts I guess I have been pretty busy.......probably why January and February have just flown by. I used to think they were the longest months of the year. Making the little girls pillowcase dresses for The Vintage Nest boutique is a favorite of mine. I can't get enough of them. I keep them stored in a white shabby old armoire and they look so pretty all lined up. I have made six new ones in the last two weeks because Easter will soon be here and they are perfect for the day as well as birthday parties, beach photos and gifts. Sweet Boo wore one I made as a flower girl. It was fashioned from a pure white vintage case with a hem line of six inches of beautiful crocheted lace. Another dress I made for her was created from a vintage pillowcase that her great-grandmother had embroidered and Boo wore it for her first birthday party. An heirloom piece for sure!
Every "new" old case I find I think is sweeter than the next. I don't know which I love more...the colors in this beautifully embroidered Southern Belle lady, the sweet little blue birds or the whimsical and fun embroidered sleepy time girls. And on each little dress I make from these old and charming treasures from the past I add a little something at the neckline to soften it. Sometimes it is just a bow and a pretty vintage button, sometimes it's a hand crocheted flower to match the ribbons or sometimes I might make a yoyo from a damaged old hankie. The ideas are endless as long as I can keep finding these precious old cases.
Thank you for dropping by for a visit on this White Wednesday. It's always great fun to see you. Kathleen over at Faded*Charm is the hostess of this fun day. Click here for more wonderful whites.
