Flag Girl at DebbieDoo's Party

If you want lots of fun inspiration just scoot on over to the yard salen partay!  I am just loving this new meme I found over at Debbie Doo's place, 'cause y'all know I am all about treasure hunting in a big way....have been ever since Woodstock days, or,  for me,  that would be the Southern preppy days. :)  Anyway.....just in time for Memorial Day, the lazy hazy days of summer,  Fourth of July celebrations and Labor Day I found the most fabulous antique print.  I put it in the boutique but until someone scoffs this darling up it will sit on my foyer table in the sweetest little vignette....a box of old sparklers, red, white and blue flowers and an old flag.  I am head over heels crazy about this lady.  The stars and stripes she wears are beautifully faded  and she holds four playing cards in her hand.  Don't you just love her cap?  I am not an expert in woods but I think this old oval frame is walnut and it's pieced together with dovetail joints...very unusual.  And this old piece possesses fabulous patina with some foxing and water damage.  To me this just gives it warmth and charm and another dimension.  It's signed and is called 'The Winning Hand'.  And do you know where I found it?  At a Ruritan Club's annual yard sale.  Yep....you just never ever know where your next treasure will come from.

And I wanted to also show these darling sweet little white porcelain birds I found at a yard sale.  I kept these for me and for the summer will display them around an old ironstone pitcher I keep filled with whatever flowers are blooming in my gardens.   In this case the blue hydrangeas, white wild yarrow from the field, pink fairy roses and pink spirea.  The hydrangeas are going to be abundant this summer.  Last year my one pink one had hardly any blooms on it but this year....whoa boy.....it's loaded.  Bobby G. found another bird's nest yesterday when he was cleaning out the pool shed and I put one of the little birds in it.  And speaking of the bird's nest,  I will be drawing the winner of my Cottage Give-Away Saturday nite, the 29th so you still have time to sign up Here.......*** and I have to mention that thanks to all of you over the top, astounding, amazing, astonishing, cool, groovy, sensational, sweet, incredible, divine....bloggers the follow list went over 300 so stay tuned for one sweet give-away.  I am just looking for one more special thing    :)

Happy Memorial Day and Happy Yard Saling this weekend.  I hope you find great treasures and I hope you get to celebrate with the greatest treasure of all....family and friends.

Hi Lynn, I love your patriotic picture and I especially love the pitcher with the beautiful hydrangeas, my favorite flower. Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my Goodwill Compote and Cherry Basket found at GW. I can't believe what awesome things I have found over the last few weeks. I'm hooked on thrift shopping...Who knew? Today I did a pink tablescape using a lot of GW finds, I'm loving this!

goodmorning. I'd love to bring pancakes - then ice cream!
Actually, someday I want to visit Virginia - that's where my dad's family is from. I never really got to know them.
Just like my heart longs for Ireland - it also longs for the hills of Virginia.
Happy Memorial Day,
Kathy
