The Wedding Party

It rained, it poured, .....the skies opened up and you couldn't see anything the rain was so heavy.  For three days before the party....it rained.   Was I frantic?  Was the bride and groom frantic?   Oh Yeaaaaaaah!!!!    With so many events going on this past weekend, finding the huge tent was a miracle in itself.  With the kindness, muscle, generosity, and sweetness of my very special family and friends, and with a big turn around in plans, we pulled it together for one heck of a party.  And then, just one hour before the event, the sun came out and shown on all those sweet faces.  I managed to get just a few photos of the venue before the guest started to arrive.  After that I was busy meeting and greeting and dancing and just having a great time.   People photos are coming soon from the photographer and I will post those too as soon as I can.
P.S.  Two days later after the bride and groom and family had returned home, the tent people came to take the big top down and the above photo was what I found written on the black top from the groom (my son).  It was under the tent. Ask me if this Momma didn't cry all over again.  :)

My new beautiful daughter-in-law and handsome son.  They were married at a private beach ceremony and then we had the party at our country home, Cedar Hill.

Side Entrance
I forgot to take a photo of these pieces all set up but here's a before hand shot.  We used a vintage double washtub for the drink holders.  Tarnished silver champagne buckets were nestled in the ice holding wine bottles.  The vintage galvanized produce oval bucket held ice and was the container for the oysters on the half shell.  And the "Raw Bar" bucket was a new piece from Target that I painted with chalk board paint. It held the condiments for the raw bar.

The kids wanted  Southern B.B.Q. fare to celebrate where they met and went to school.  In the background of this photo you can see the black smokers cooking the main course.

Early, early, I mean reallllll early Saturday morning I, along with my friend Cindy,  decorated a wholllllllllle lot of cupcakes. A month ago I made the "I Love You" cupcake wrappers.  She loves fun fetti and he loves red velvet, so we had a combination of the two.  The table was laden with the cupcakes topped by a small gorgeous anniversary cake, made by my big sister.  After dinner, Miss Boo, my grand-daughter, went around to all the guest, serving the cupcakes from a silver platter.

At dusk, the candles were all lit.  This table with the candelabra hanging from the dogwood tree was soooooooo romantic.

"Lynn, We had so much fun Saturday night.  On the way out, I stopped and used the bathroom.  I couldn't believe how crazy I looked and how soaked my hair was.  I asked Bob why he didn't say something about how I looked and he said I was having too much fun for him to say anything.  Which was true."   ........  It was SEW fabulous!!!

Love you - D "

Oh what a gorgeous bride and groom, The tent looks amazing, and I love every detail. Oh don't you just wish the weddings could last a few days at least. All that planning and it is over in a whirlwind. Except for the thousands of memories that were memorized that day.

Congratulations to your son and his beautiful bride, and Congratulations to you and your husband.

Congratulation to the bride and groom, their picture describes how happy they are. I can't even put into words how fabulous a job was done on the decorations, just so pretty. Those cupcakes look yummy and I like how you served them. I think everyone had a good time and I was glad to read you and Bobby had fun. That was sweet of your Son to write that message. To think you pulled it off with all the rain, congratulation to you also. Hope you rested up this last week.
