The family scattered to the wind Easter weekend. Having grown children and grandchildren living all over the United States makes it tough to get together during the holidays. So....I had brother and sisters and Mom and neighbors over this past weekend for a Spring get together. The weather was absolutely perfect and the company divine!
Hand dyed muslin ribbons, rolled on vintage wooden thread spools and stamped with some of my favorite script and graphics, were presented to my sisters. Simple, sweet and made with a large dose of love. I wanted to create something for those that mean so much me with a gift that might touch them as well as be useful.
Partying with paper ........... when I have a large crowd it's impossible to seat everyone and use china, so I resort to paper and sit where you please. But using paper products doesn't mean the table is not set with love and a little panache. Elevate the lowly styrofoam plates on a beautiful cake plate, put the utensils in a pretty vintage glass pitcher and fluff the paper napkins out.
While I did cook the meal, this time I (shhhhhh.....) purchased store bought desserts but added personal touches, such as fresh flowers, a sweet little rabbit, and again placing the plates on a pretty vintage transfer ware plate (thanks T.P.) to make them oh so important.
I hope your weekend was as special as mine and that you have a sweet week.

Lynn, I haven't bee by for a while so since I have some time this evening I thought I'd drop by and say hello, sugar.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time with family. Daughter's in Hawaii this week and granddaughter is having another baby the end of the year. Other than that my life is boring!
Nice to see elegance even if you use paper plates. My daughter thinks the inventor of paper plates should be knighted!!

Connie

So happy you had such a nice spring gathering with friends and family. The spools of ribbons is a wonderful gift! I'm certain your sister loved receiving that box.
Hope you have a lovely new week.
I just love the ribbon and putting it on the vintage spools is genius! I'm all about paper plates and store bought when you want to have friends over but don't have the time to cook. I love your idea of the plates on the cake stand and the 'extra's to still make it special!
What a lovely way to spend Easter Sunday. We spent our first one away from family which was very different! Such pretty ideas and simple to do when entertaining a crowd. I am sure your gifts were adored as well. The wooden spools are such a treasure!

That's a great idea - I've done the stamping but haven't dyed muslin ever. Bet the sisters loved it. Your table looks wonderful and no kidding on the paper plates - smart and pretty!
I have to go catch up on some of your older posts. xoxo Nancy

Hi Lynn! I hope you've had a great week. Mine was good....I spent parts of three days in my basement storage room trying to organize by TONS of Christmas decor....getting rid of some of it and placing the stuff I love to grab first when it's time to decorate, in handy spots. I created a mess in the family room downstairs by not putting the Christmas stuff away....it's been lining a wall since mid January....waiting for me to become inspired to do something with it!! Actually, my storage room had gotten so out of hand I just decided to not address Christmas until I was ready to address all of it..bit by bit. I'm planning on having a g. sale sometime sorta soon..so that's my motivation PLUS wanting to be able to find stuff when I need it! :) We have a ton of storage room and I've just let it get in sad, sad shape.
Thanks for your kind comments on my post Lynn. I would love to hear your story about your dad...Mighty Oaks.... :)
LOVE the sweet gifts you made for Easter...I'm sure everyone loved them!! I am also loving that dessert....I will be saving that recipe just as soon as I sign off!
Have a great Saturday!

Hi Lynn, Thank you so much for the sweetest comment on our anniversary post. All those years seemed to fly by so fast. We have been blessed for sure.
Your Spring get together sounds like a delicious happy occasion. I agree, a pretty table can be achieved even if we use paper products. A large crowd makes paper products necessary for sure. Your pretty touches made it very special. Your hand dyed muslin ribbons look awesome. A very clever idea. A wonderful way to make everyone feel special.
Happy PS.
Hugs, Jeanne

Sounds like such a blessed get together! The desserts looks delicious and you have them them displayed so beautifully!
Who would have thought those were store-bought desserts? You transformed them into something personalized and special with those accents you added :)
The ribbons and pinwheels are fantastic, love the old spools. Nice work!
Ciao,
Mary
