As I travel around this season, I look for stars, most all seeming to have disappeared and replaced with reindeer, Santas, sparkly trees, and candy canes. It is a symbol of beauty and light and a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.
So it was with happiness in my heart, when I found this very charming painting..... the soft neutral palette, quiet, still and solemn. Simplistic as a child's drawing and with a storybook quality, it's a sweet reminder of the reason for the season. I loved the snowman shepherd and his flock gazing at the sky, seeing the rhinestone star cross, bright in the darkness of the night. Backed by a very old chippy green painted framed black board, it rest on our foyer table, greeting our guest and proclaiming this simple phrase:
Joy to the World
As the story was told, soon that bright star is followed by an angel with a message. You will find the Savior, the one spoken of for centuries, who was born tonight, wrapped in a blanket, and lying in a barn, with his Mother and Father. Peace on Earth they sing and then they are gone.
Do not be afraid they are told. Astounded, they turn to each other and wonder how will they find this babe who lays in hay in a trough. They run down the hill, and begin their search, going from house to house and the innkeepers with no luck. They keep going, finally hearing the cries of a woman. They are met at the door of a stable by a man with his exhausted wife, resting by her new born babe. It is just as the angels said it would be. This baby, the Hope of the World and awaited King of All, lay in the manger.
The humble shepherds jump for joy and stand in awe and go and spread the word. A king is born. The gift of God to the world.
This charming painting I found on one of my "hunts", is prized far beyond its original cost, expressing the meaning for the season in its sweet simplicity.
A breaking heart for the precious young and older who were lost to their families and us this past week. No words can express the feelings. Prayers and hugs are with you all.

What a special sweet painting to greet guests. It's an amazing story isn't it? The Creator of all things sending his perfect Son into this sinful world. It's wonderful to be able to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas and the hope it gives us on our journey through this world.
Merry Christmas,
Mary Alice

yes, it is beautiful. Merry Christmas!!
Hello Lynn
Oh it is so beautiful in it's simplicity - without words yet it portrays the whole meaning of Christmas.
I feel like you, I don't want to see snowmen or hear modern Christmas songs.
The Christian message unfortunately seems to get lost in all the hoopla.
I'm your newest follower and I would love you to pop over and say hello sometime.
Christmas Blessings to you and your family.
