Something Old ~ Something New

Here Comes the Bride

But mostly it's something old.  :)  Vintage inspiration in today's weddings is a welcome and memorable addition.  It's charming and romantic and recognizes personal style and uniqueness.
Use an old wire birdcage as the money card gift holder.  This one is pink and just so happens to have a heart on the door. :)

A vintage tiara or headpiece is so pretty in an up swept hair style on her special day.  This one is simple and so elegant.....white and creamy pearls.

Every bride, mother of the bride, mother of the groom and grand-Moms, need a small special purse to carry.  This charming wristlet petite vintage purse is laden very hundreds of tiny, tiny beads and pearls, beautifully matching the tiara and big enough to hold a hankie and lipstick. (and if you are like me...a place to stash the eye glasses for photos :)

And speaking of hankies, did you know there are special handkerchiefs just for weddings, appropriately called 'bridal wedding hankies'?  This one is vintage but never used and still retains the original tag, fine Irish Linen, and trimmed in a generous lace edging.

Carrying a vintage Bible is a wonderful way to show your faith and heritage.  Tied with old lace it is beautiful, simple and very sweet or it can be topped with your favorite flowers.

There is nothing sweeter than the tiny vintage flocked millinery of yesteryear.  In the pastels displayed in this sweet old nose gay, their charm just oozes wedding day.  Still wrapped in its original ribbons and delicate old paper lace doily.  Place on a Bible, in your hair, very sweet for the flower girl to carry or even on top of a simple white wedding cake.  (Hint: use new plate size lacy paper doilies as the placements....very romantic for a garden wedding and very budget friendly)

Gorgeous vintage French lace can be added to the gown, used to make a garter, or as streamers on the bridal bouquet.  The ideas are only limited by your imagination.
A very unique way to personalize the guest place settings or just the wedding party table, is to use chic old drawer pulls as place card holders.  These have very pretty French lines with beautiful patina in their creamy whites and old worn gold.

These are some very lovely ideas for a romantic wedding! Emily's matron of honor had been searching for a vintage purse for Emily and then they found a new one with a vintage look that she fell in love with. I think she would have liked this pretty beaded one. Beautiful things!

Jane

These are GREAT examples of vintage items to use in a wedding, Lynn. I was just talking with the lady to whom I sold my wedding business a few years back, and she was telling me all about how vintage is in now in a big way. (I didn't know that...I have all but completely turned my back on the wedding industry as I've pursued other ventures.) I love to see vintage come back into vogue. It really adds a lot of romance to the event and gives it that ultimate wedding-like feel. There are things I sold or gave away that I now wish I would have hung onto. They would have easily fit into this whole vintage rage!!!!!

Have a wonderful week!

Hey, Lynn!

I know I commented on here earlier, but I just wanted to drop by and say "Hey!"

Has your weather finally settled down? I hope so. We are about to build an ark down here. Hope this isn't headed up the Eastern Seaboard. This is a slow moving front dumping tons of liquid. We need it, but I kind of feel like we should grow gills if it keeps up. ;-)

Have a great weekend...

Sheila
