I Feel Pretty......

For years, various cultures have considered the act of washing and cleansing to be a daily ritual but also ceremonial and therapeutic..  Our bathrooms are little havens of luxury and can be an intimate sanctuary  or refuge  for daily indulgence.

All of us  need to carve out a little niche for a vanity, whether it be a sweet little vintage piece like mine, or one's own personal room.  It's a way to feel unabashedly feminine, romantic, and relaxed with an objective to make us feel beautiful.

Your vanity only requires a tiny bit of space, with room for accents that give you comfort, such as flowers and photos, a mirror, light and cosmetics.  There are so many styles you can choose from, whether it be elegant Paris apartment, cottage charming, art deco, shabby white or glamour girl, choose what makes you feel " oh so pretty!".

For just a little bit of money and more time, I carved out a little hide-away in our bath, all vintage.  I hope you can find a little inspiration here to make your own special place.

This sweet soft green and creamy white vintage vanity I found at an estate sale and I believe I paid around $60.00 for it.  Loved the French look to it, all the drawers and the center has a pop up mirror and more storage.  A bench also came with it.  I positioned it right under the window that looks out over the lake.  Great light and beautiful view.

This sweet, very old cast iron lamp has the original white chippy paint on it and an ornate base. I made the lampshade for it by using the petals from a pretty pink silk rose.

The faux, but very life like white roses in "water", are from Goodwill.  And the vintage hand painted jewelry box was a yard sale find.  I loved the creamy worn patina on it.

A  tiny sweet vintage tea cup with roses, becomes my holder for essentials, q-tips and cotton balls, heightening them to a very important status. :)

A French cut crystal glass jar and a vintage silver tray, both thrift store finds, hold cosmetic brushes and other essentials, so important to my daily routine.

We had some very warm days recently.  I open the windows over the vanity to hear the chorus of  tiny little frog peepers, signaling Spring is indeed near. :)  Sweet weekend!  xoxo

Wonderful post! Beautiful photos. A girl after my own heart.
I collect vintage vanity items... from antique perfume bottles, powder boxes and dresser sets... to rhinestone compacts and lip sticks. My bathrooms and bedrooms are decorated to the hilt.
I'm constantly arranging and re-arranging. I love to take a relaxing bath and just enjoy the loveliness.
Great post.
Happy Pink Saturday!

what a great post Lynn. There's always some spot, no matter how small to create a special place. Pretty or repurposed or vintage items make a person feel awesome.

Have a fabulous weekend Lynn!

First visit to your blog. I love the vanity, so pretty and romantic. I have a very contemporary-looking vanity area, and I try and soften the clean and modern lines with as many vintage touches as I can. How wonderful to look out over a lake, and to get natural light for putting your makeup on. I am a new subscriber.
