Baa Baa Black Sheep

You can find me on Facebook here.....

I cannot believe it's almost August!!  Why is it that January, February, and March just crawl by and then boom.....April hits and time just flies?    It's been a busy, busy summer with a family reunion, family visits, beach time, lots of yard work and lots of hunting and gathering for The Vintage Nest on line shop and physical presence.  Just recently I returned from a trip to the mountains.  A respite from the heat and humidity was so refreshing and invigorating. My sisters and niece and I chatted and chatted and chatted and covered a million subjects and when I got home I still thought of things I wanted to say  :)  And you know some antiquing and junking was on the menu too, not to mention lots of good food and did I mention chatting? :)  We stayed in a log cabin, with all the amenities, the sheep being our closest neighbors and the nearby scenic New River.  It was so peaceful and idyliic.

Who knew sheep were so many different colors under all that wool?

Sunrise over the mountain and the New River

the scene to one side of the cabin
the scene from the front of the cabin...... idyllic isn't it? My sister enjoying a quiet moment

the weather during the day....perfect! at night it was chilly enough for a fire pit fire.....can you say s'mores? :)   and great sleeping weather too!

A local mountain top winery we visited (and bought a few Christmas presents )  Thistle Meadow Winery.  Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a family owned business.  Their tours included tastings of grapes grown around the world.

Oh yes, we're having fun now!!

the gentleman beside me was the owner.  He was such a character and so much fun. My favorite wine was called Horse Stomp Red.   Our hostesshad us taste this wine,  nibble a few dark chocolate bits , take another sip and swallow the wine and chocolate at the same time.  Oh my!  The taste and aroma of raspberries was loud and clear.  Another favorite was a mix of bananas, pineapples and Viognier......also known as a "cheap trip to the beach."   :)

One of my mountain treasures I found.  A very large handmade church bird feeder....all shabby and weatherized for perfect patina

I've missed you!  Have a fabulous week and I hope to back a lot sooner next time   xoxoPhotobucket

Hi Lynn -

Looks so fabulous! What a great time with your sisters. I adore cabin trips with my girlfriends, we have 2 a year and it never ever gets old. Sounds like the winery is a great experience there. Nothing like a little wine tasting to put a perfect end to a perfect day!! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful getaway with us!

Blessings, Edie Marie

PS NO I CANT believe it's August already!!

I'm just left wondering why you left that heaven on earth??!?!??!! You wouldn't be able to pry me out of there with a forklift!!! Gosh, what a pretty place! If ever a person needs to collect their thoughts and get right with God, a place like that is where to do it. Man...just gorgeous!

Glad you had fun tasting wine. That's always a lot of fun. I have never heard of that last ingredient in the "cheap trip to the beach", but I'm sure it was good!!!

Welcome back!
