Nature's Fireworks

My goodness we have had some scary storms here lately. Last Thurs. night a really bad powerful lightning storm hit about 8 pm. The lights kept blinking on and off and finally off they went for good. Power wasn't restored until the next afternoon. For us that means, since we use well water, not only do we not have electricity but no toilets or water either. The phones got knocked out too and it was four days before that was fixed. We spent the weekend cleaning up the property from all the downed limbs and one tree that fell. I have learned to be prepared with lots of candles, flashlights, oil lamps, bottled water and a Red Cross radio on hand. Last night another bad storm reared it's head. These storms aren't the kind that you want to sit on the screened porch and watch. These are the kind that you say to yourself....hmmm...maybe I just better stay away from those big windows and stay out of the shower. We were very lucky we didn't lose power again as I heard on the news this morning that a lot of people did. As the storm was dying down I managed to get a photo of a lightning bolt over the lake. Look very closely at the photo. Do you see "things" flying out of the tree tops? Birds maybe?.......I don't know. What do you think?

That is so awesome. I love thunder storms. We had that weather here too, what a show eh? I don't think I've ever caught it on camera though.

The lightning picture is amazing! I was caught driving in a storm like that a few years ago. Had only gone to Wendy's a few miles away, but I thought I'd never make it home! Lightning striking all around.

As scary as those storms are, I'd welcome a good, long one here in the desert formerly known as Alabama right now.
