Snow, Milky Way & Ouchy Teeth

Thought I would show you what we woke up to this morning. It was so pretty. Just an inch and was gone by late day. They say if you don't like the weather in Virginia just wait a day and it will change.......drastically. :) Last week it was so cold the lake froze, then yesterday it was 62 degrees and last night it snowed. No wonder everyone gets sick.

Want some Valentine kisses? Try this chocolate cake on your sweetie or family on Valentine's Day and get ready for the thank you kisses. I am talking yummo here! This is soooo good and the icing taste like a Milky Way bar. Better hide a piece because it will be gone before you know it. (I've been know to hide things....hehe) And don't you just love that vintage rose cake carrier? That was one of my finds recently and you can find it here. If you are making this cake for a friend or a special function what a fun way to carry it. If you have a pink shabby kitcen this cake saver is a must.

Milky Way Cake

Purchase one "Swiss Chocolate" cake mix. (I couldn't find Swiss so I got German Chocolate) Mix with 1-1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup oil, and 4 eggs. Bake according to package directions. I always put the baked layers in the freezer for a while because it makes frosting the cake so much easier. Also, this cake is very pretty when the two layers are cut into 4 layers.

one 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
one cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
12 oz. carton cool whip
2/3 bag milk chocolate chips, melted
1/2 cup pecans

Cream the cream cheese and sugars; add remaining ingredients except the pecans and blend. Frost cake and top with pecans.

I received an award last week from Pegs Life In The Button Jar. Don't you just love that name? Peg claims to be a button floozy. LOL. Love that! I received this award once before so I am doubly grateful to receive it again. It stands for bloggers who show great attitude and gratitude. Thank you Peg for thinking of me and I pass this on to all my blogger friends. They all have great attitude and gratitude I think. And speakng of gratitude I will be filled with it if you all will think of me on Thursday. Remember I told you I had an emergency dental problem on Christmas Day while we were away and we had to find a dentist who would see me. We did and he took very good care of me until our return to Virginia. Well tomorrow I am to have some surgery to fix the problem. Now going to the dentist is probably one of my least favorite things to do, so to say the least I am not looking forward to this procedure. I am a big whimp. The surgeon gave me three happy pills to take so I should be pretty relaxed on the way. Maybe I'll even sing for Bobby G. Nah!!!....don't think so. Anyway..... I'll see you a few days after that.

Hi Lynn, your snowfall was beautiful. We haven't had any snow in southern Tn. this winter, just cold cold and more cold. Being from the north, I miss a good snowfall. Thank you for sharing the chocolate cake recipe; I will make it for Valentines as you suggested. I looks yummy. Good luck at the dentist. I pray your surgery goes smooth and flawless... and painless! blessings, carrell

We didn't get any snow yesterday, but we had flurries tonight. That cake sounds really good! Good luck with your dental surgery.....

Lynn, First of all let me tell you I completely understand about the dentist thing and I will hold you tight all day tomorrow so that you won't be scared. It will be over before you know it. I won't even begin to go into my 5 hour dental surgical ordeal. I COMPLETELY understand.

Your photo is beautiful, as usual. You take such great pics.

The cake looks amazing and I just copied and pasted the recipe and I am sooooooo going to make this. I think a practice cake is called for just to be sure I get it right. :)

When you are feeling better, stop by my silly blog and see if you can win my giveaway. Trust me, it will be worth it.

Stay calm, take your happy pills, take your pain pills, sleep all day when you get home and milk it for all the sympathy and attention you can get from Bobby G.

Thinking of you!

Oooooooooh that cake looks yummy. I hope your surgery goes well, and you are nice and relaxed. The dentists have so much better ways of making you feel comfortable. Hope the dentist makes you as good as new.

Hi Lynn,

Thank you for the yummy recipe! I am going to try it out.

Good luck with the dental surgery. I am with you..I very much dislike having my teeth worked on. I am sending you a big hug. Take the drugs, hopefully it will get you through!

I think your weather is much like ours here in Arkansas. Last night was the coldest of the year so far, somewhere around 9*, this weekend it's supposed to be in the 60's. Crazy.

What a beautiful picture! I grew up in Virginia...it's a beautiful state! :)

I just finished lunch and now I would love a piece of that cake. Would you share your hiding spot? (I do that too!)

Oh Lynn, I would be honored to have you add my blog to your nice list. I still haven't added that feature to my blog. Thank you. :)

Are you serious about the bird tray? It is big..approx. 21"x15".

Thank you for stopping by to say hello.

Lynn, hope the surgery is a success, just like that milky way cake, I am drooling (as you probably are right now too) looking at it, that scene is so pretty with the water, is it a lake or a river? hugs Margie.

Hi Lynn,
Love your snow. We haven't had a good snow fall since '63, lol. I was sorry to hear about your strawberry basket breakage. Who was the manufacturer and what was the pattern? I have several, and they are all Hammersley. I have a plain white basketweave,(nothing plain about it), a Morgan's Rose, a Strawberry Ripe and the gold pattern, and I love them all and hope they go to good Wimbledon watching homes, lol. I hope everyone visits your site, I know I did and saw some of the loveliest new arrivals.... I love window shopping from home!
Blessings to you, my fine one,
Theresa @ Cottage Violets

The cake and pics look so good. Best of luck with the dentist. Also, we got a little bit of snow here too. Nothing major. But still it was pretty while it lasted.
Thanks for sharing all of this. Enjoy the day.

I hope you're all fixed up by now, Lynn. You can't be eating yummy cake unless you're all fixed up. ;-)

What fun for you to have snow. Would you like some of ours? We're in Ct and normally it comes and goes but we've had such severe weather, the snow has been on the ground since before the holidays! Your milky way cake looks and sounds yummy!
What a wonderful package of goodies from your friend. How fun!

The cake recipe sounds yummy. And I would love that view you have. It sounds like your weather is a lot like we have here in Southern Missouri Ozarks.
I really like the nature sounds music you have playing on your blog. I could sit and listen to it for hours. Wish the kids and dear hubby would let me sit that long and relax. LOL
