The End

The Beginning
I love my kitchen but after 10 years I wanted something different on a no budget/low budget. Not really something different (unless I had the money to gut it and start over but that's another story) but maybe just make some changes for a fresh Spring time start. It's no secret that I love a country French style kitchen so instead of the traditional American style built-in cabinet, I wanted to try and recreate a hutch type feel to high light my cream ware and ironstone every day dishes and maybe tweak some other areas. Calm, Mascarpone, Monroe Bisque, Bleeker Beige, Coastal Path, Slubby Canvas. Beautiful names aren't they but in the end what color of paint did I go with??? Just a simple "white"! White semi-glass by Valspar...easy to clean kitchen paint.
When we first moved into this home, 11 years ago, everything was very dark, including the paint colors. I spent three months painting, painting, painting. Everything was changed except the ceiling beams. I kept those dark, thinking they had a French farmhouse look. In this photo the kitchen beams are the color all cabinets, window and door trim and baseboards were originally.
Bobby G. wasn't too thrilled about the idea of removing cabinet doors but I convinced him I was always right. :) After scrubbing and cleaning I started repainting all the cabinets. What a job! And I remembered this time to wear my handy dandy cotton gloves. It seems I always start a paint job just after I have had a fresh manicure.

And here's the after photos.
And for a little every day whimsy, it's fun to add a little flowered filled vintage bottle right up there with the dishes.
I love the new change. It sure put a zip in my doo dah! Until next time....xoxox

Lynn- It looks great! Fabulous and I love the little doo-hickey things on the posts-they really add a bit of pizzazz to the cabinets. Love your bin pulls too.
I see you are another one that drags out the paint after getting your nails done! We must have some kind of bad nail fetish! lol Hugs-Diana
I think you did a great job, Lynn! I love white cabinets and they look great with your counter tops. I am also in love with your black toile dishes and the red checked. I'd wish I had those beams on the ceiling! Those are very cool!
XO,
Jane
What a great makeover. That scroll in the middle there really adds such style.
What a fun kitchen you made there! Love all the little details you used and it all looks so country french and warm. Hope you have many fun days in this wonderful little world you made!
Hugs- Tete
Your 'new' kitchen looks darling! Now i'm inspired to get moving on mine! Enjoy!
I like what you have done. The gingerbread adds a little something to the area without doors. I had always wanted to do the chicken wire... glad someone took a closer look and tells me it won't work. thanks saves me a lot of trouble.
...and why does all the dirty work always come right after a nice manicure!?!
The kitchen looks great. I love what you have done! And I like the little white wood thingamabobs you put on your cupboard! Wow that adds so much.
Blessings,
Debbie
What a pretty kitchen! Love taking the doors of the cabinet and using the little scrolly things! I have metal (50's) cabinets and unfortunately that isn't an option for mine.
Yes that is barkcloth that I used on those Easter baskets. I just love that nubby fabric and have a little collection of it!
O I do know what you mean about getting good pictures of your booth space. I have had several ask me and I have a front window space and the glare from the window is terrible when it comes to trying to take pictures.!! Will look forward to seeing it I hope when you get just the right angle, and lighting, and camera......:)

Hi Lynn,
Your "new" kitchen looks wonderful. Amazing what a little paint and knobs can do. I did a black and white kitchen as well two years ago and I am still loving it...I's great I can change the look of the kitchen simply by adding pops of color according to the season, just like you did with the dafodil.
I even have the same rooster plate..lol!!
Thank you for stopping in and visiting with me!!
Have a wonderful day!!

looks gorgeous!!!! I'm curious if you made your stove hood? It looks amazing!!! I have the generic metal one and it is not my style at all. I have no idea where to look for a more custom looking one.
Can you help me please?!!!! Thanks!
Jennifer
I also liked the kitchen before, but, the change is cute, and I like the white paint. We need change once in a while, especially the kitchen area. Have a nice week, you did a great job.

I love it, Lynn! My kitchen has been waiting for a re-do for about 2 years now. I keep saying that I'm going to do it but the days keep slipping away.

Hi Lynn! Love your gorgeous kitchen! One day I'll have a beautiful kitchen like yours. The hubby and I are shooting for the beginning of summer.
Thats beautiful! I love the open cupboard look. Have a great day.

Love the new look, Lynn! What a difference removing cupboard doors and adding clean white paint makes. The pair of scrolls is adorable and I like how you've arranged the toile plate amidst the red/white gingham ones. Just too cute! Received my order and I love my helmet. It will go into the study when I re-work my shelves. Thanks much. xo Sue
Hi, Lynn! So nice to "meet" you! I really like the changes you made to your kitchen. We have the bin pulls too and I love them! And taking off the doors...what a great idea to really open things up and give the space a brand new look. BTW I grew up in teeny, tiny Bassett, Va. near Martinsville. Virginia holds a special place in my heart! Beautiful country!
Love the kitchen and it is always worth all the blood sweat and blisters! Hugs, Diane
Wowzers! You did good, girl.
I love your new look - and you were absolutely right in every single one of your decisions. Bobby G, too - of course.
