Bringing in the May

May Day

~ The celebration of Spring turning into the delights of Summer ~

Make a flower filled basket for a friend, hang on the front door, ring the bell and run like crazy.  Make someone's day!   :)  This sweet vintage white crocheted basket I found at an antique shop.  A glass pickle jar inserted inside and filled with lilacs makes a charming, sweet smelling and delightful statement hanging on the old iron piece in the foyer.

And for more fun, have you ever thought of using an old purse for a flower container.  They make fantastic, unusual and fun containers.  This is a hand made denim tote bag using old jeans and incorporating the best old rustique clock face, some old seashell jewelry, sweet vintage lady's net glove and an old skeleton key.  How cute is this~~!!???  A cute as a button purse or flower vase....you get to decide. (pssst...this one is for sale.  :)

I am delighted to join these wonderful blogs and their parties this week.  Hope your week is filled with joy, happiness, flowers and a sweet surprise (or two) xoxo

I remember May Day...isn't it too bad that we no longer celebrate it is this way; it was really fun! I love the idea of using purses to contain flowers...very creative. Have a great day.

Wow, it sure would make my day if someone left flowers, no need for them to run fast, love your ideas!

You make me laugh Lynn. I actually pictured you running away, ha! Seriously, what a wonderful idea. I can't wait for our lilacs to bloom here. The season for them is way too short!

This is the other Lynne (!!!). Thank you for visiting my Blog.
Well I love your idea of fun and what a way to brighten any person's day by leaving flowers for them.
Well the sun is shining, or trying to shine in my part of the world which is Scotland.
I wonder if anyone will leave flowers for me on May Day - a girl can wish!

Ca UTE!! What a darling little crocheted basket. (I need those lilacs!) and I also love the denium bag. Oh yes, very fun May Day ideas.

I'm officially ready to tuck my bunnies and eggs away, so talking about May and flowers is a nice subject. ;)

This is so funny. I was out today scouring the stores for a little basket to use for May Day. I came home frustrated with no basket. I think I'll try to make something. I'd better get busy. Only 4 days left.

Great post- When we were kids MayDay was a BIG deal! We always went into the woods and picked sweet little May flowers and broght them home to fill small vases....so much fun...and the schools celebrated it too! Your "purses" are wonderful! xxoo Diana
