The ramblings of "what do I post about" today.  I am Southern....I ramble, tend to go on and on and jump from one thing to another.  I can't help it.

The Vintage Nest shop has some  single found deer antlers For Sale.   These are so popular in interior design, along with the horses and cows and sheep paintings.  And I love the sun bleached and worn weathered gray Nordic patina of the found antlers.  Fabulous for Fall and Christmas decorating.  (yep...hate to say it...but it's right around the corner).  I have a pair in our family room just resting on the old books.  Last Christmas, as you can see in the photo, I filled the porch urn with antlers and, along with the fresh pine greenery, it was simple and very pretty.  This year I plan to incorporate some of the white antlers with an old white snow sled as part of our holiday decor.

While on my treasure hunts, looking for some wonderful vintage animal paintings for you, I ran across this.  A copper hand hammered vintage handsome horse head.  He's so rich with that gorgeous distinctive texture and organic feel.  Signed and mounted on cardboard, with an outside edge of earthy black, he would be perfect on a table top easel.   A unique piece of metalwork that would look at ease in the French or urban farmhouse setting, the traditional, or contemporary decor.  You can find him here.  Just $2.00 shipping too. :)

The Way I See It
Grocery shopping the other day, this is what I came upon. This lady is chit chatting on her cell and totally unaware that I am standing there, waiting to get by. After several ahem's,  she finally noticed me. And her phone conversation: what she watched on television the night before!  The Way I See It......they should put toot toot horns on the carts.

Second scenario........traffic jam on aisle 5.   The Way I See It......all aisles should have a dividing line.  Just like on the roads, stay to your right.  Beep your horn if you need to pass.   :)   The End!

What's Your Problem?

Okay......and skipping subjects again.   Just a sweet reminder of my blog "party" coming up.  At the rate I am going it may not happen until 2012 but I want to get it out there so it sticks in your brain, like a bad song.  :)  Got a design problem?  Tips and tricks from those in the know...bloggers.

Thanks to these gracious ladies who host these fabulous parties and lets me attend.  Go visit each and every one for some sensational inspiration.  xoxo

Lynn...you make me laugh! Horns on our carts and lane lines down the aisles! I totally agree. I try to pick the right time of day and day of the week to do my shopping and that helps. And though I don't use my cell, I have to admit I am one of the slower people, just price comparing and making up recipes in my head. My kids say I daydream in the grocery store!!

I'm looking forward to your party. It sounds like fun! And I love the antlers!

I am so with you on the grocery store thing. People act autistic when they are on the phone...Hello even though you think you can...you can't do two things at one...beep beep, hang up the phone!!!

LOL- I drive one of those cart things- it has a back up beeper- I just slip it in to reverse. I can creep up and touch you on the back of the shin, too. I have gotten pretty good at it, ;).
Most people stay out of my way...99% are very helpful- I just smile sweetly and say I'm not very good at this...but don't tell no one!
Hugs- Tete

I laughed when you wrote that. I thought I was the only one who was bugged by people stopping to talk on their cell phones. So weird, they even talk loud enough for everyone to hear every word. I guess I don't get it but then I don't even own a cell phone!

I think this is a good idea, horns on carts and the divided isles. Liked the pictures of you shopping.

Hello Lynn,

First let me tell you that I am just like you! :O) And what you show is true about grocery shopping although I think here we have less time...
I am in and out! LOL!

Love your new items.

Thanks for leaving a comment and I know how your mom feels. Even at 90, she's scared. The cart represents someplace she doesn't want to be.
She is afraid that once she sits down, she will never get up again. Tell her it's no different than riding in a car, and she can walk into and out of the store. The parking lot is enough of a walk. And at 90, if she runs anyone over, they are not going to yell- Book her, Dano.
That spunk and that fight in her got her to 90- and I'd bet she's got a few good years left. Just lovingly remind her that a fall would put her down for good.
Other than that, with aging parents, you have to pick your battles- you can't argue about every little thing or they start tuning you out. So pick well and good luck- I know some days can be so stressful when you worry about them. The price of love...

LOL Too funny. I always thought little bike bells and BLINKERS should be put on our carts. lol And also I think white would be a pretty color to paint those carts. They would be chippy in no time;)

There are times I just want to SKUH...REEEEM in our grocery store....often times over a situation very much like the one you shared in that second store photo. Where are the "grocery store manners" anymore? The attitude of spread out and block every which way to the aisle seems to be a problem in Missouri, too! :) I've gotten to the point that I just park my cart a the end of the aisle...on the outside of it....and walk down the aisle cart-less....snatching up my items...then heading back to my waiting cart.

I'm not a deer horn decorator or lover, but hats off to you for finding some. I know I'm in the decorating minority about them....sorry. However, I know you will sell them with no problem!! :)

Hope you're having a great Tuesday! L, Dana

Oh my gosh! This is such a funny post! You would not survive where I shop! It is by one of the biggest retirement homes. Can you say S-L-O-W!!! If you find a toot-toot horn please let me know, I want one too!
I am a huge fan of these bleached antlers. They are a huge decor statement! And you use them fabulously.

I so totally agree with your grocery shopping idea! Those cell phone talkers who block the isle drive me crazy:) The horn would be just too funny!

The horns on the grocery carts made me laugh...they would probably wake some of the shoppers up though....have you ever seen people kind of hanging on to the front of the cart looking like they are in a world of their own? I like the antlers for decorating.

Lynn, what a fabulous post! I personally like the "rambling" from one subject to another - keeps us readers on our toes! I was "ahhhing" one minute about the white antlers, and then nodding in agreement about the supermarket etiquette (lack of!). High fives to you on capturing that scenario perfectly! :)

I like the idea of stripes in the aisle way, maybe with an express lane!

Ha! Some people shop in their own little world and it can be so annoying when you are in hurry! I bet she had no idea either! That photo says it all! X

Lynn, Great ideas for the grocery store! Can you also find a way to keep people with forty items out of the limit ten lane?

The vignette with the antlers is beautiful. See you in three weeks!
