My First Ever Doll House

~ Happy Pink Saturday ~

Now I know there is no pink in the photos but bear with me here.  Way back in early summer, when Pink Saturday had her birthday, Barb of Dogmom Diva blog had a give away for that very special day.   Gracie, the dalmation,  picked my name (good dog!) and I WON!  With the crazy hectic summer we have had I am just now telling you all about it and again thanking Barb for her "sew" special give-away.  Since I won it on Pink Saturday I hope you will forgive me if I post on Pink Saturday. :)  Barb's give-away was for a charming hand crafted apron she made from a fabric called Church Flowers.  A delightful uptown print of lime green, blue, and white and she funned it up with big fat rickrack.  But that package was filled with oh so much more.   Time is getting so close for the wedding party and I am busily frantically working in the yard (please no more hurricanes) adding weddingish fall color, like white mums.  That fun apron is perfect for gardening...why?  Because she included the cutest wristlet to match.  Perfect for wiping my sweat drenched glistening brow while working in the hot sun.  (shhh...don't tell anyone but it's actually a coffee cozy but I don't drink a.m. coffee and it made the PERFECT wristlet.) Look closely at the photo. It closes with a fun big button. And see my lime green gardening gloves?  They were in that package too.  Now aren't I the chicest gardener in town?   The "cat's meow" I tell you or maybe that should be the "dog's bark".  A very cute bug was in there too but he/she was camera shy and flew off.  :) She also included the cutest sun flower cupcake wrappers to match.  Those I am saving for a special treat for Ms. Boo and Ms. Ava when they visit in a few weeks.  Thank you Barb.  This is going to be worn a lot!

Totally switching gears but still playing house I had to show you what I found two Saturdays ago on my treasure hunt.  Can you stand it?  I can't!  Someone's grand daddy made this for his precious grand girls and someone else was selling it.  I grabbed this thing so quick the seller's head was spinning faster than Linda Blair's of The Exorcist.  This baby is huge, measuring over 3 feet across and almost as tall.  Love that country front porch!  And those shutters aren't painted on,..... they are wood appliques next to plexiglass windows.  And it had tons of furniture with it too.  Where's the PINK?  As I was cleaning it up, I found layers of contact and wall papered walls, which effectively dated this amazing house.  But for now I will leave as is because I love the pink cherries and blue berries of the kitchen paper.  The builder even made a little wood shelf and wall phone.  Don't tell anyone, but I  sat there after cleaning and played with it for the longest kind of time.  I can't wait to show the grand-girls when they come.   Okay....don't slap me....but the cost you ask........$15.00  :)

Thank you Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting our Pink Saturdays, a tradition that is so much fun.  Click on her blog for more pink than you can shake a stick at.  I will be out and about Saturday hunting for hidden treasures and will be by for a visit afterward. I need to find some people to live in that house.  I want to thank each and every one of you who wished us well with your prayers and thoughts during the hurricane last weekend.  We did lose power and then my computer went on the blink, I guess from the power surge, so I was unable to spend time with you but I will see you all this weekend.   Have a great weekend.   :)  xoxoxo  Oops...I almost forgot.  Happy Labor Day.

Love your apron and the doll house. How could someone sell something grandpa made for them? Well, your gain.
Glad you are all safe there. We sat and watched as Irene moved across so many and doing so much damage with the flooding and winds.

That is one amazing doll house!!! Are you keeping that for the Grand Girls to enjoy? They will flip over it! Love all of the little decorating touches.....like the floors and the porch and the wall paper!! You will have so much fun decorating it!

What a grand give away.....such wonderful and useful items! I need a wristlet for each wrist....to wear when I'm jogging. They would be perfect for wiping my dripping brows as I tear around (I use the term "tear around" very loosely! :) the trails!

Hope you have a great holiday weekend....and hope you find more great treasures!

What a cute dollhouse! I love it. She's a beauty and I hope you really enjoy working with her. We have one that my brother-in-law made for our daughters and I need to dig it out of storage and set it up so the little girls can play with it. This was good inspiration for ne to do that- xo Diana

So glad you are all safe.

I would have been shaking so badly at the sight of the doll house, I may have been speechless. What a wonderful price, too.

The dollhouse...pant...pant...only $15.00??? My goodness, Lynn, I never get deals like this. The pictures you took of the porch and the interior look like a real home!! I think it is going to make a couple of little girls happpy!! :-)

I LOVE your apron and gloves and little wristband, At my age, I could wear it 24/7! Your garden bed looks really similar to one I have bordering my house. It needs a lot of work though, yours is looking good!

Are you getting the wedding jitters? I never really did. I just had to make a choice how I was going to handle it all and I chose calm. Worked for me!! ;-D

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

What a cute apron - and totally appropriate for this Pink Saturday. I loved your doll house as well. My grandkids have a doll house almost as big. They had such a fun time decorating it with their mom and auntie. Thanks for the reminder of sweet family memories.

What a beautiful doll house and also like your apron. Congratulation on your win. What I really like about the doll house is that little door knob and to tell the truth I would have played with it also . Good luck on finding things to furnish it with, I know you will do it proud. Hope your Labor Day weekend goes well. Thank you for coming by.

Oh my, I love it! I had a metal doll house when I was a kid -- the kind that is now sold as vintage -- and I loved most of all making furniture for it! What a wonderful find!
