Birthday Hats & Granny Panties ~ Pink Saturday

Not too long ago I had a request to make a very special custom party hat. You see, a little girl was about to become a big sister and her grandmother wanted her to have a special hat to wear to the hospital to meet her new baby sister. Her special request? She loved pink so I must use pink. Isn't that wonderful? With all the updating of our home since Spring and the wedding party I haven't had much chance to be creative in my work space, so I was quite excited to do this. I always try to incorporate something vintage in whatever I create, so on this little hat  I used vintage Happy Birthday sheet music, a 1940's baby shower invitation and a large vintage white pompom. The base was pink polka dots and I made  pink and white crepe paper ruffles. I love making these little party hats and would be glad to do any special request. They also make fabulous toppers for a birthday gift or birthday cakes.  Oh.....and Shirley my blogging friend, I even used a pink dried flower on it from my garden. :)

As most of you know probably, Saturday mornings finds me on the road "treasure hunting", but this weekend Bobby G. and I have plans, but lo and behold as I was heading to the grocery store this morning, there just happened to be a couple of yard sale signs posted for Friday.  Imagine that!  :)  So I had to take a few detours.  Heading down a long country road on this beautiful cool crisp Fall morning I happened upon this scene.  How often do you see clothes hanging on a clothes line anymore?  And I loved the wheelbarrow they used as a clothes basket. :)  Under shirts and pink granny panties.......don't you just love it?  I hope this gives you a chuckle and a smile.

Thank you Beverly, of How Sweet the Sound for hosting this fun party.  Just click on her blog name to be taken to an amazing array of pink goodness and have a wonderful weekend my friends.  xoxo

I have used clotheslines like that many times. Probably still would if I had one. Cloths are so nice and clean smelling being out in the fresh air. You did an excellent job on the pink hat.

Dear Lynn,
Thank you, thank you, thank you..the ferns and seeds arrived yesterday and I was so delighted with them. I put the ferns right into the Garden Press for safe keeping..will use them for project during the snowy days stuck inside..
And that HAT is just beautiful..I bet that little girl was just 'TICKLED PINK' when she saw it. And I bet it was a big hit at the hospital too. What a special gift for a big sister..and happy to see that you used a pressed flower from your garden..how cool is that? It made for a special touch..
Hope you and Bobby G. have a great weekend you both deserve it..

The hat is darling, Lynn. I can tell you put a lot of love into it! Cute, cute, cute!

I miss my clothesline!! I used it all the time when the kids were young so I could be outside with them while they played. Those were the days!

When I was a little girl I carried around a special "blankie". My mother constantly washed the old frayed thing becasue she thought it gave me allergies. While it hung on the line to dry, I stood there and snuggled with it until it was dry. I had a lot of patience and loved it to pieces...literally! lol!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks again for the seeds!

What a very pretty hat, like the different things on it to make it so beautiful. You did it again Lynn, using vintage items to create something very pretty. The clothes line sure does bring out memories of many a day of hanging out, just to catch that wonderful smell. Happy Pink Saturday.

Absolutely loved the party hat for big sister,,,,it is simply precious!! I know that little girl loved her hat, too. You are so talented....you could make these for lots of occasions!! I bet you do!!
The clothesline full of clothes reminded me of when I was young and my mother would want me to hang
the freshly washed laundry out...
we had a neighborhod full of girls
AND boys and I would be soooo
embarassed to hang our panties out.
I would try to hide them among the larger clothes so the boys could not see them!!! LOL
My kids call "grannie panties" "BIG BERTHAS"...isn't that the most disrespectable thing ever.....HA HA......can't help but grin about that!
Thanks for sharing the darling hat AND the line full of clothes!!
Have a happy week.....Francy

That hat was amazing, Lynn...just like you!!!

Hey.....what's wrong with granny panties...especially if they're PINK!!! ;[)

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the marigold seeds!!! They came while I was going nuts getting ready for the sale (which, by the way, was a GREAT one this year!!!!). I so look forward to sewing them in the spring....I have a brown thumb, so don't hold your breathe on my success with them. HOWEVER, I am going to let my pal Bonnie sew a few, too, cuz she has a very green thumb. If I fail....I know she will succeed !

Hope you had a great PS and a fantastic weekend!!

L, Dana
