Road Trip!!!!

It was a road trip made in heaven for two modern day "treasure hunters". Two days of traveling with a blogging buddy and someone who will stop anywhere, no matter how run down or dilapidated.  A girl after my own heart.  Sherry of
No Minimalist Here and I  had a grand time. We headed up to Nova (aka Northern Virginia) and Maryland.  First stop:  Donna and her Snow Creek Farm's Holiday Open House.   We were not disappointed.  Donna has several places in the Fredericksburg area that she sells in and twice a year she opens up her charming old farm house and it's chock full of sweet antiques, vintage and other goodies for sell.  In addition she creates all manner of charming winter and holiday vignettes, all for sale.  Walking up the old brick walkway, her chickens and peacocks greet you in song and it's hard not to get the Christmas spirit with the holly and magnolia piled high.

the road to Snow Creek

Me, Sherry, Donna and Sweet Tea and Moonshine

Just one wonderful room decorated for the Open House at Donna's place

Heading farther up North......look what we found!
HAPPY PINK SATURDAY Ladies......Look at this!  Could  you  ride by this and not stop??!!!!   On A Whim is the name of this adorable place and that's Sherry heading in the door.  :)

One of the rooms in this fun place.  And that's me in the mirror.  And Sherry, the Christmas gift I bought you was laying on this dresser.  I think I managed to buy it without you seeing it.  Hehe!  :) Then my camera battery died........the dreaded message " battery low" and my uttered...."oh no....why didn't I check it before I left home?"

So, the rest of the photos I stole  borrowed from Sherry's blog.  We headed "on down the road" to Old Lucketts Store and the Design House.  Lucketts is where the bloggers Ms. Mustard Seed and The Graphics Fairy display and sell their wares.  It's a great store and I had a blast browsing and buying.  Next door was the Design House.  An old farm house decorated from top to bottom, front porch and side entry, with the most fabulous latest decor interspersed with the old.  Yeah....baby...my kind of place.

Don't you just want to curl up and take a little nap with all these cuddly teddy bears?
Tired and happy we drove to our hotel, checked in and then out again.  It was off to the outlets for still more shopping and dinner.  The next day found us heading to Chartreuse & Co .  This tag sale (as they call it) is just open once a month and believe me ladies, it's worth the wait.  As I roamed from room to room, I was just blown away as my eyes darted from one wonderful thing to the next.   Outside in the the old barn I found this and bought it.  I have something special in mind for this old vanilla colored suitcase with gorgeous old hardware mellowed with the passage of time.  (think ottoman).  My first project of the New Year I think and I can't wait to show you.  :) But for now it will sit here under the old table looking pretty.

Thanks to our Pink Saturday hostess, Beverly of " How Sweet the Sound".  She will be having themed Saturdays until the end of the year and this Saturday we are to share with you a blessing.  I am sharing the friendship of a blogging friend, someone who shares the love of the thrill of the hunt, laughs and good times.  How lucky I am for that!  Have a wonderful weekend.  This is the unofficial end of the yard saling out here where I live and there are a lot of them this weekend.  So in between cooking for next Thursday and more treasure hunting I hope to be visiting you.  :)  xoxo   P.S. Know what the "hot" decorating trend for the holidays is?  Deer!

~ Congratulations to Lynn of "It's a July Thing" blog as the winner of my give-away cook book "Bake Sale.  Lynn has a sense of humor you will love.  I do!   Hope to hear from you soon.  ~

I just have one thing to say about that trip of yours.....and here it is.......I AM SO DANGED JEALOUS!!!

How much fun to travel around with a buddy and see such wonderful places. I have drool all over my desk just looking at those photos!!

Well, I can see why you count your blogging buddy as one of your blessings....it's certainly a huge one in my book!!!

I count you as a blessing, Miss Lynn. You were one of my first blogging friends....it has been a joy to get to know more about you...your great sense of humor, creative talents and decorating style. I know we would be great friends in "real life" cuz I feel we are in "cyber life".

And, yes, I am so blessed to have my kids and grands near by. I am always holding my breath on that cuz things could change in an instant and a job could be relocated. In the meantime, I just try to enjoy them as much as I can.

Happy Pink Sat....and have a great TGiving!

L, Dana

What a FUN trip! And such great photos! I'm blessed with an easy to use digital camera that uses regular batteries, so if I forget to check mine (which I also do!), I can grab some at a gas station :) My daughter has the rechargeable though, so we definitely "feel your pain!"

LOVED the pink store, LOVED the bloggy companionship, and LOVED the teddy bear bed. I have a ton of different ones, but this one makes me want to add more and HUGER ones! My space requirements will hate me but my grandchildren would LOVE it :)

Thanks for a fun visit and some great ideas!
