Our Holiday Home ~ Welcome

Your own space and make it a peaceful retreat
Welcome to Our Holiday Home

An old desk calendar recalls the day to come.  No electronic wonder can replace the beautiful patina of this simple time piece. :)

Simple fresh greens decorate the front porch.....greens taken from the home's own land and speak a gracious welcome to all

A sweet found bird's nest is the only decoration the circle of evergreens needs......one red ornament adding a bit of color

Sprays of holly and vintage paper bells embellish the old sleds......giving a festive air to time worn fun of the past

A sentimental fool...perhaps.... but how could I not decorate the station of those creatures that give me such pleasure each morning as I watch while drinking my morning coffee ....the antics of the chickadees, the upside down nut hatches, the beautiful red of the cardinals, the sweetness of the doves, the charm of the finches.......

The old cast iron bird bath no longer holds water, but is a treat when looking out the kitchen window with its new found purpose each season

The month of December means the tastiest confections....shared with family and friends.  Simple tiny living evergreen trees grace the old cherub and invite you to taste in the dining room

Not wishing to overload you with photos,......I did a little collage :)

The baking will start this week for the dessert corner and to send to family far away

A galvanized old well bucket with its rustic status holds an elegant white poinsettia

Miracles at Christmas....with our children being the sweetest of all because it's in their eyes that we see the spirit of Christmas

Battered and bruised with the years of Christmas past, it is still my favorite, simply made from paper

An old fashioned Santa, hand painted and prized for years, guards the chimney

Adding twigs of Christmas green to every day items, elevates its importance and says "look at me"
An antique Victorian fireplace mantle holds a simple ironstone bowl of red glass ornaments siding with a bit of playfulness in the candy cane vase

Not even the lowly doorknob escapes a bit of whimsy....a vintage bottle brush wreath with its still clinging tiny mercury glass balls

A well worn chippy blackboard is the back drop for a sweet snowman painting....the winter scene in all quiet neutrals

29¢ hard plastic vintage deer now hold a place of importance under a glass dome

A rusty old metal suitcase showcases gaily wrapped gifts

while a gold wreath embellished deer family rest under the tree

Our only tree this year, simple pine branches, dressed in their natural finery of little pine cones and a dash of tiny fairy lights

Simple boxwood wreaths hang in the windows......greenery from the backyard
Thank you for being here today. I want to wish you a beautiful Christmas filled with love and if I could I would send you a hug and a smile all wrapped up in a red bow. xoxo
One of the prettiest vintage ornaments I have (thank you Deb) makes a bold statement tucked in a silver tray of potpourri

"Now you want me to do what?!!!  Get those lights all the way to the top of the big ol' cedar tree?!!!!   Whatever!"

And then he does it!  Yep....this is the man behind the scenes.....the one who lugs the ladder, drives the fresh greenery tractor,  helps me patch up my hurt leg from crawling under barbed wire fence to get to the perfect holly berries, hauls the boxes from the shed and then back again and on and on.  Couldn't do it without him! xoxoxoxox! ...

I love your simple, natural decorations. My husband would be envious of your lit pine tree. We have acreage, but alas, no pines or even big trees. We're in S. Cal's fire country, so that's probably a good thing. Merry Christmas to you!

WOW!!! What beautiful details you have added all around your home inside and out! I love the wreath on the door with the simple bird's nest in it. So pretty! It's cool that you dressed up the birds' "restaurants", too! :-) I really dig the Charlie Brown tree in the silver champagne bucket. Cute! I'm a Charlie Brown tree fan!!! Beautiful display with the conifers in the and around the cherub statue! Great vintage pieces, too, all around! I love the way you decorated the Victorian fireplace mantle. It's so simple, yet so glorious! You also made those 29 cent deer look like a million bucks with just a couple of simple touches. LOVE the gifts displayed in the vintage suitcase!!!!!!!!! You are just rockin' it out this Christmas! High five to the Mr. for his efforts, too!

There are so many favorites, I can't choose! But, to name a few...the front door decor; the mantle above the sink (adore) and the simple tree using greenery from outside! My $60 tree is still sitting naked after 2 weeks! I love the idea of 'free' and fresh and simple with your tree AND no guilt if you don't get it decorated! I need to get with it! Visiting from Debbie Doos and so glad I did! I envy your home with it's decor done in the light neutrals, as my home is trimmed in all very dark walnut, brick and stone. It just doesn't look quite right when I try. I'll just admire yours. It's easier and cheaper for me that way. ;)
