Pink Candy Canes & Tootsie Roll Pops

It was such a simple thing...................

but it gave such joy and fun to others. When I was decorating for Christmas, as an afterthought, I threw some candy canes in a vintage silver creamer and placed it on the old quilted silver tray that rest on the coffee table. I was so surprised at the number of guest over the holidays that would snitch a candy cane to munch on and another to take home. Bobby G. loved them too and I never even knew he liked candy canes. So!.....my only resolution for the New Year is to keep a silver bowl of lollipops year round on that old tray. That's one resolution I think I can keep. :)

That old silver tray is quite large measuring 2 feet long by about a foot wide. I found it years ago. I didn't know much about it except that I loved it until I saw another like it in one of the first Shabby Chic decorating books Rachel Ashwell put out. I was thrilled. The old tray is from the 1940's, has scalloped edges, and is silver metal and quilted.

But it's what I have placed on the tray today that I want to share with you. I love candy canes for decorating. I used them a lot at Christmas in gift wrapping. They are fun and bring out the child in all of us I think. I was tickled "pink" when I found some pink and white candy canes. They were gorgeous on a gift I wrapped using white paper, fresh cedar and wide pink satin ribbon.
I was so excited, I purchased a box for you too. :) How perfect for Valentine's I think. These pink candy canes are strawberry flavor...yum! I will pick a winner Jan. 27th so there's enough time for me to ship to you and you can eat them, decorate with them, make hearts with them ......whatever your heart desires.  ......  before Valentine's Day. All comments on all posts between now and then will qualify.  If you are a first time visitor, I would love for you to "follow" my blog and facebook time line too.  Check it out on the side bar. >>> No blog...no problem....just leave your comment and an email where I can contact you.   Have a fabulous weekend and I'll be back soo!  P.S.  that sweet little vintage creamer with the rose on it, can be found on my website here. :)

Pink and white candy canes......what a sweet thought. I've never seen them in anything other than red and white or green and red. Love your tray! I'm going to go pull Rachel's book off the shelf for some afternoon reading. Love her style and was fortunate to meet her this past October at her property in Round Top. She is a lovely person with a darling sense of humor.
Darling way you turned these canes into a heart. ;-)

Pink candy canes - so pretty! I love the idea of leaving out the tootsie roll pops - who doesn't like them and they are so cheerful! I will have to try that one! Happy New Year to you!

Count me in on that lovely draw, they are so sweet and I would just adore them for Valentines Day! I would love to add them to my sweets I make for my beautiful Grandaughters and some left for me to put out on display. I don't know if I'd want them to be eaten though (hehehe)! Me and Mr. P. are celebrating our 37th anniversary this year, how cute would that be... Thanks for the chance!

Cute candy canes! Oh, but the quilting on that silver tray is awesome. Shame that's not going w/it. ;) That's neat about the snatches of canes and pops. Funny how little things just do that. I'm trying to remember if I have been by your page on FB or not. I'll have to go see. Got myself a page for both of my blogs - the link to which is on my sidebar too. Stop by and "like" if you're so inclined. Thanks!
Happy Pink Saturday! Enjoyed the post. And the canes and pops!
And how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? (Is that how the saying goes?)

Fiddle. I wrote a comment and then Blogger reprimanded me about something,so I guess it's not there? Hm. Maybe it is since you have comment moderation on. Anyway - loved your post. Love the quilted silver tray the most. ;) I'll make sure I have your FB page liked - if you're inclined - stop by mine too. (Link on my sidebar). I know I had said something else - but oh well. Happy Pink Saturday!!! Jenn

Hi Lynn. I just followed you and I can't believe I haven't followed you before now. I love your Blog. My visiting has suffered this past year but I am looking forward to having more time in 2013 to enjoy blogging more.

The candy canes are so sweet in Pink and white. I have not seen them in these colors before today. I made hearts out of candy canes for my garden club Christmas luncheon. It looked so festive.

Happy pink Saturday.

OK....I just realized this is a bit different way of leaving comments now. Since I have to use the Open ID way, I now have to open it and select typepad....didn't have to do that before.

Anyway...I hope I'm not too late for your giveaway!! Those pink canes would look good at my house!! ha ha!

I love candy canes, no matter what the color. These pink and white ones are particularly pretty. It's not a color that is often seen. Thank you for a great blog and the opportunity to win a great treat!
