Lessons from the Beach

vacation at the beach
Best Escape Anyone Can Have

Bliss..... me in my favorite old sand chair....a trip to the beach has the power to restore us to ourselves, to even our keels, so to speak.  To lighten our hearts and at the very least put a little color on our face.  You hunch your shoulders a little less.  Maybe taking a cue from the dolphins we saw each morning from the deck......that just dancing in the waves is a reason to be happy. Perhaps an important lesson to be learned from the beach, is life is to be enjoyed.  Just dive in!  It reminds us of the playfulness of childhood, laughing our fool heads off as we dive and bob under the waves or ride one onto the shore.

take off your shoes....dig your toes in the sand and just sit and watch the waves.  It's okay to do nothing.

look for treasures from the sea; the ones you find are meant for you alone  (grand-girls and me)

 go fishing  (Bobby G)

eat ice cream (grand-daughter A)

go for long walks   ( my 2 sons & family)
ride the waves  :)  (my 2 sons)

sit with a friend  (grand-daughter B and grand-dog)
save the bread crust for beach birds

fly a kite
 watch the horizon

 there will always be sand
eat outside ......preferably peach French toast  :)      (grand-girls)

enjoy each other ... no television (grand-daughter A & Bobby G)
the sun will always come out
go in the water ----  even if it's cold (baby W..... grand-son)
watch the sunrise and sunset.......you will never need a watch

build sandcastles (grand-daughter)
flips flops....... the only shoes you'll need
wear sea shell jewelry (my gorgeous daughter-in-law)
you need a swimming pool at the beach  :)
(my other gorgeous daughter-in-law and new grandson W)

make new friends

I will always find an antique shop :)
my hair will never look good  :)
Thank you for visiting today.  I am always happy to see you and welcome your comments.  Love to have you follow my blog and face book page.  Have a super fun week and may you have sand in your toes and sun on your face. xoxo

That looks so darn relaxing. I need to get back to the beach soon. We used to go to the Outer Banks every year and I had forgotten just how fun it is to do NOTHING.

We live on a beach and feel like we are on vacation every day. I just retired - 12 days ago!- but when I worked, we walked on the beach every morning before I left for school. Walking on a beach is the perfect way to start a day.

And now, my uniform is Patagonia shorts, tees, flip flops and unfortunately frizzy hair.

You have got it all figured out. We have no oceans close here, so we head for the lakes. Its just being close to the water. It has to be big enough to have waves...;).
Thanks for taking us to the beach with you today, it was great!

What a fantastic post, the beach/ocean and your family, I do not think it gets any better than this..
I so love the ocean, you are right, it just puts everything into perspective. We visited Maine coast late May and will be going back early September, we go every few months or so.
